Grim Reeper
I understand that Ipswich have a youth four team tournament involving the Ipswich, Rye House, Swindon and Poole plus the "Men in Black" will be racing a few heats on the old-style bikes. Admission is £10 Adults with children under 14, accompanied by an adult get in for free. Nice to see something different from the Ipswich promotion and worthy of plenty of support. Does any know who will be riding in each team and who will the Men in Black be? (P.S. Sorry but not sure what section this topic should be in). M08
According to the BSPA site, it's Ipswich vs Poole vs Rye House - so no Swindon anymore? Still, I'll be attending.
KN1
the Poole team for this youth/academy challenge, was going to be Brendan Johnson Darcy Ward M. Bovis Kyle Newman but we have just been informed that at 16 Kyle is "TOO OLD" as his birthday was in december, another display of contempt at trying to bring on young english riders

It was described by someone (not sure who mentioned it ) that it was 16 years and under. I agree with you that it is utter contempt by the powers that be and I really wish that those who go along with this faced the same restrictions when they were trying to break into the sport unless of course those who make these mad decisions have never sat on a bike. The british youngsters will never stand a chance and it is no wonder it is a poorly performing nation at international level. It is a pity that those who throw money at overseas riders do not save a little and spend it on raw talent.

BobC
Here at Poole,we have raised funds to support our lads in this meeting. We even have a Main Sponsor,in Poole Bay Storage. Our team,as mentioned by Future, was made known to the promoters, nearly 3 weeks ago.Yet its only today that anyone has informed us about Kyle Newman being TOO OLD!! Rye House promotion,do your sums,he is 16,not 17. As I understand it,this meeting has always been for riders 16 or under, riding 500cc machines. So how come Kyle is banned? The BSPA say that rules are rules, and as he celebrated his birthday in the middle of December,he cannot ride. A couple of years ago,Ben Hopwood was OVER 15 at the start of the season, yet was allowed to ride in the UNDER 15's,going on to finish 2nd to Joe Haines. So,which rule book are they following?I could fully understand any protests if this was a World Championship,or Championship decider. Its not.Its a good workout for 16 year olds, trying to make their way in the sport. I had intended to go to this, but will not bother now. Our Academy lads have my full personal backing, and I wish them well on Thursday. Bloody jobsworths. crazysue
well if that is the case then 2 of the other poole riders are ineligible Don't ask me.... I am only a paying customer who listens to the announcements and believes them (well some of the time!)! I actually agree with you though, it does seem a fair bit unfair to Kyle. BobC
I am right in assuming that you are supporting young British riders D'arcy Ward Australian??? I believe No Tom,you are not correct! Nothing personal against Darcy, but I do not think he should be riding.I have said the same to Team Manager Garry May.Dont get me wrong,he is a smashing lad,and great to watch, and Id love Poole to sign him. I fully support any young English lad who wants to give it a go. The two reasons I will not travel today is the Kyle Newman issue and the inclusion of Darcy. Shame,as it had been in my diary for months, when I first heard about it.
