I have been selected to do both the European and the World championship qualifiers, both of which are in Russia.

According to the Speedway.org site, you've been drawn at No. 4 in Togliatti, Mark.

Looks like the following riders will contest the Santa Cup according to IsRacing.net along with the Swedish riders:

Franz Zorn (Austria), Antti Aakko (Finland), Harald Simon (Austria), Tommy Flyktman (Finland), Jo Saetre (Norway), Johnny Tuinstra (Holland),

Sven Holstein (Holland), Réné Stellingwerf (Holland), Jan Klatovsky (Cz Rep)

The Swedish riders will be those who qualify for the World/European Championships at Strömsund on Dec 21st, plus each organising club will have three wild card riders.

The Dutch riders also have been annouched a couple days ago for the World Championship Qualifiers; Rene Stellingwerf will go to Saalfelden (Austria), Johnny Tuinstra to Sanok (Poland) and Sven Holstein to Togliatti (Russia).

An interesting piece of news for British fans, GB now has two riders in the European Championship in Lukhovitsy :approve:

So if all of the paper work can be sorted in time it will be me and Kevin Rowand representing GB.

Great news :D

Any info about the European Championship calendar? Is there a replacement for the Flims (CH) qualifier, or it there just 1 qualifier? And a venue for the Final found yet?

My information is that it's one qualifier in Lukhovitsy on the 31st of January, and the final is at the same venue on the 1st of February. This information is direct from the UEM.

Hey Mark, are you ready for the Santa Cup? Do you still have become a Wild Card for Ö-vik, Strömsund or Bollnäs?

Hope to see you at the Santa Cup. We`re starting our trip tomorrow, having a short break christmas eve at Gävle, than going straight to Ö-vik.

Do we ever get to watch this on the telly?

Don't think so any more. But there are usually some good livestreams from Russia every season.

Plus you might see something on one of those Motors + Men sort of channels. There was one on tv some months back about a guy learning the sport

@Doug

No problem for us, you`re welcome coming with us, we`re driving for our own, so we`ve a nice place on the back seat for you :-)

Yes, we`re driving through Hamburg because we`re taking the ferry Kiel-Gothenborg tomorrow night, arriving tuesday morning (Lars birthday :approve: ) in Gothenborg, driving to Gävle, making a short christmas eve break and than going straight from Gävle to Ö-vik.

Do we ever get to watch this on the telly?

Saransk TV showed the Russian Final last year andthe local Ufa TV showed the GP two years ago, both were streamed live on the internet. The only downside for me is that I have to use the kids PC to watch as the stream only works on Internet Explorer, and not Safari or Firefox.

Iris 123 and I regularly scan the Russian forums looking for links so if we find them we usually try to post them.
