Jacqueline
Should you have added "weather pemitting"? :) Only six weeks then Jacky! Hope the iceracing god will send cold temperatures and snow to Sweden :-) Today Antti Aakko, Flyktman, Jo Saetre, Sven Holstein and Johnny Tuinstra have confirmed their participating. The swedish riders will be the ones qualifying for WC at the national swedish qualifying at Strömsund in december. Plus three wild cards/event. Conkers
Joni Posted Yesterday, 10:20 PM This version of the draw is made by a human translator machine. You should see what the internet translators do to your site Joni The ticket order form for Assen (English Version) is HERE All three nights are available, with the Friday night seat tickets at €10 and standing at €5, it's a real bargain for 24 heats of Ice Racing IMHO. bluejam
Can anyone help on this subject?Online ticket order forms became available for ice speedway championships in Assen next March 14/15th last Saturday.I've submitted my order by this process and a request for bank account details are mandatory for this ticket application.I haven't received any confirmation for this ticket submission by email as yet.Is this a normal process when applying for tickets? Are tickets sent to your residential address or do you have to collect them on the day of the meetings next March? The sale of tickets only started last saturday, so i think you will receive the confirmation within the next couple of days. But if you want to know for sure, you can send an email to tickets@ijsspeedway-assen.nl (or call the number on the contact page of the site). iris123
Well with the snow due to arrive in Hamburg today it should be all systems go for the winter.Unfortunately it seems from inspeed that Flims has been cancelled.Nothing on their website as far as i can see.But the post on inspeed is signed by "DF",who i guess is the Flims President,Dirk Fricke. So bad news again
Conkers
Just had a look on the Flims Website and it looks like they are having the Swiss Championship/Alpenarena Cup meeting on the 17.1.2009 "with further details to follow...." but no mention of any other meetings, so maybe they aren't going to stage the Euro Semi. Mind you a few of the top riders don't like the Apenarena track claiming it is too rough, from what Roger tells me. Maybe that's the reason? f-s-p
Tuesday is the deadline for the qualifier #2 to get a new venue. If it doesn't happen, tough luck and there will only be two. It wont happen in Finland.

Seems from DF that Flims lost their big sponsor for the meeting and it is too late to try and find a new one.And to run the meeting without a sponsor would put the club in big financial trouble
f-s-p
Tampere is set to organize a test match between Finland and Sweden on the 22nd of February with the Nordic final a day earlier at Seinäjoki. So book your flights now. Or dont...

f-s-p
I take it that it would be financial reasons that they don't want the hassle? Rumour has it that Svemo/swedes would be willing to ease the financial burden as it's originally their cöckup. Oulu that would be my favourite for taking the chance arent allowed to use Raatti anymore, this year anyway. Dont know why but there have been talks with the local club and the city and it's not gonna happen. So they are left without a track. Finland has two artificial speed skating circuits. One at Oulunkylä, Helsinki and one at Seinäjoki. The cost of either of them to build the necessary thickness in to the ice is recently said to be around 30 000 €. On top of that they won't do it "during the season" as it's expensive to keep it and the ice comes too slow for the skaters... LMAO, but true. Doing it mid march is a no go for either venues, as they are both built in the 70's and arent powerful enough alone. Extra powerplants are of course possible, but that would about double the electricity bill for the project. When I went to Oulu last time, they asked 20 € for a ticket to the Finnish final and I thought it was a rip off. Quick maths would give me a ticket price of 58 €, when dividing a possible electricity bill between 1200 sold tickets for a qualifier on an artificial track. A crowd that isn't impossible to get with tickets at 12 €, but on the top end of the scale.

Joni
The president of the CCP has succesfully hidden himself under his desk for some days now. But in the meantime there is no way they can spare thelmselves the trouble of finding a new organiser for the 2nd qualifying race without showing their total lack of interest and indifference. The FIM has been presented at least 4 other options, and that is without Oulu (but as far as I know, Finnish riders and other ice racing people are still trying to find a way to organize it there). For example Sanok and Saalfelden are willing to organize another meeting. Of course it would be only fair if Sweden (who cancelled the meeting very late) and Germany and Russia (who organise only the financial more attractive finals) would support them in this case. But I think it's the task of the FIM to arrange that. And even Russia has offered to hold the qualifier in Kamensk-Uralski. So I think there is little need to worry here. On the other hand, the EC final in Erfurt has been cancelled today too. The reason I don't know yet, but I think it won't surprise anyone if they suddenly (?) discovered the track doesn't meet the requirements…

I thought they staged the European Final there a couple of years ago (2006 ?). Nothing to do with the fact that Flims have been forced to cancel the qualifier then? I'll check if we have a team in Inzell, but I think Roger told me that the FIM like countries who have tracks in the Team event these days, although I know GB were in a couple of the qualifiers a few years back.
