iris123
Günther no-mates,as conkers has christened him flies out to Moscow on his way to the pre-GP practice tomorrow in Krasnogork having been ill with the flu this week.He says his aim is to finish in the top 8 and after his performance in Inzell he is optimistic.....will be interesting to see if Franky and Bauer can scare a few of the top Russians.I still as for the last few years can't see past Krasnikov for yet another title. The odd exclusion or fall might make it tight for him though Bauer on his way to Russia And just seen this.......an ice speedway movie(or at least dvd) starring among others our very own Mark Uzzell in his GB race jacket Looks well worth a look. Not sure if we have had this here before with my memory Icy Riders Edited February 5, 2009 by iris123

The only ice racer in my opinion to look like someone whose really proud of what he's doing. Looks the part like a speedway rider should. Conkers
By my reckoning, it's Lehtinen and Tuinstra who will take the reseve slots tomorrow, with Skabraut in at 16 and Flyktman in at 3. But I may be wrong (9.35am 8.2.09 - And I was - it's Markus at 3, Tommy at 16) If Franky and Gunther No Mates continue this form, then it should make for interesting weekends in Berlin and Assen. According to the Russian Forums, there are highlights of Saturday and an "as live" recording of Sunday's racing on RB-TV, on Sunday, but I can't find a time. Last year they showed the Russian Final at 3pm GMT as it was a "late night" programme in Ufa. Soon as I find the link, I'll post it. iris123
While Franky is looking at a possible title chance his two compatriots are in a totally different situation.Harald Simon is having bike trouble.3 bikes playing up in Inzell and Krasnogork.Plus Markus Skabraut is riding on Aakko's reserve bike!!!!! in Russia. He hasn't taken his equipment or transporter to Russia due to the costs. And it seems very likely he will give up Ice Racing after this season. He is finding it hard to get time off work and in the summer starts to build a house Austrian news

Harald Simon has suffered an injury of some sort, and whilst he qualified for the D Final he didn't take part. Posa having a dreadful day failing to score. As for Krasnikov, he now has a 21 point lead, and looks on target to retain his title. Loads of complaints on the Russian Forums about the Referee, Istvan Dorago from Hungary. The general feeling is that he just excludes the faller, rather than look at where there is an incident. Tomorrow, Flyktman and Skabraut will replace the two bottom scorers, one of whom will possibly be Posa. EDIT: B Final has been ammended. The Russian Forum says that Baseev beat Bauer on the line. Conkers
Had a text from Joni on Johnny Tuinstra's behalf, he has broken his collarbone. He will need an operation in Holland and hopes to be back in time for the Berlin rounds. I've asked if she can confirm Harald Simon's injury too. UPDATE Harald Simon has broken both bones in his arm, after Klabo rode into him. From the sounds of it, that's him out for a while.
