schumi
Presumably, the FIM. I think it's been the same format for a few years.
dump that clutch
Sorry if this question has been asked before but how and when(in public or behind closed doors?) is the draw made for gate pos in the gps?. the format used is the tried and trusted 20 heat formula that's been in existance for ages. speedy den boy
the format used is the tried and trusted 20 heat formula that's been in existance for ages. so how comes riders have the same gates twice in a row? it used to be 1234 that a rider gets but it s changed and the format hasnt been updated in the rule book
Steve Turner
so how comes riders have the same gates twice in a row? it used to be 1234 that a rider gets but it s changed and the format hasnt been updated in the rule book I'm guessing you've confused yourself... As was said, it's the long-standing formula of 20-heat meetings. Don't know how 'long-standing' it's been, but I'd imagine it's about 80 years

What do you mean "so does Nikki P for example get to start on the outside of jason crump equally throughout the gps."? Are you asking if Jason and Nicki start outside each other equally? It wouldn't be a draw if it was all pre-selected,would it?You do seem to be making it more complicated than it need be or is.Typical speedway fan

The meeting format is constant. What changes are the rider positions. For example, No 1 always has the same gate positions throughout the meeting, but so far this year Rune Holta (Krsko), Bjarne Pedersen (Leszno), Jason Crump (Gothenburg), Bjarne Pedersen (Copenhagen), Leigh Adams (Cardiff) and Chris Harris (Prague) have drawn No 1. Steve Turner
so does Nikki P for example get to start on the outside of jason crump equally throughout the gps. It's down to pure luck, whether that happens or not. The draw is completely random, regarding the riding-number in the meeting which each rider takes. Nicki is Number 1 in the series, as reigning World Champion, but he is given a riding-number for each GP. That can be anything from No.1 to No.16 - depending on the draw (which I imagine is done by drawing numbers from a bag). Whoever is drawn at No.1 will ALWAYS have Gate 1 in Heat 1, Gate 2 in Heat 5, Gate 3 in Heat 9 etc etc etc etc etc, right down to... ...whoever is drawn at No.16, who will ALWAYS have Gate 3 in Heat 4, Gate 4 in Heat 8, Gate 2 in Heat 9 etc etc Get it ? p.s Just in case you think there may be an advantage... Many rider's like to be drawn at No.1 - they have a perfectly even space of time between their heats and they start off in Gate 1 when the inside is always quickest - Heat 1. BUT, history shows there's no advantage in being at No.1 and in fact, at the GP's, it's often best NOT to be in the first heat after track grading, which the No.1 always is. Every year in the GP's, certain numbers stand out as being the one where most points are scored - this year (so far) it's No.8 which is definitely the lucky one ! And equally, there is always one which seems jinxed as a bad one - this year it's No.4 ! Interestingly, exactly the same as last year !! Subedei
So far this season, the GP winners have been as follows: Krsko - No 9 Tomasz Gollob Leszno - No 9 Leigh Adams Gothenburg - No 5 Rune Holta Copenhagen - No 12 Tomasz Gollob Cardiff - No 12 Jason Crump Prague - No 10 Nicki Pedersen
lucifer sam
So far this season, the GP winners have been as follows: Krsko - No 9 Tomasz Gollob Leszno - No 9 Leigh Adams Gothenburg - No 5 Rune Holta Copenhagen - No 12 Tomasz Gollob Cardiff - No 12 Jason Crump Prague - No 10 Nicki Pedersen Sub, surely a better indicator of whether any draw number is favourable would be to look at the top scorer at the end of the 20 heats. In the old World Finals, I think Nos 5 & 13 had the most wins. All the best Rob
