Big news looming concerning a one-off track return for the 1982 Speedway World Final runner-up - so in advance of that I'd be grateful for a few details concerning the end of Les' league career.

Does anyone know when his last meeting was? Riding for and against who..?

AND: is it the case that he ended up holding the all-time appearance record..?

I've actually a feeling his brother Neil might instead have that distinction..??

Any/all info. would be gratefully received!!!! :approve:

Ok I've got Les Collins making his last appearance for Workington at Derwent Park against Arena on 12th May 2002. scored 6 paid 8 from 4 rides . Finished an 11 match stint covering for the injured Kauko Nieminen with an average of 8.08.

As far as I recall that was his last team position, though I'm sure he rode in some individual meetings.

For some reason a team place never came his way again, which was an awful shame after the wonderful career that he had. Similar finish in fact to his brother Neil who was also left on the sidelines whilst lesser riders got team slots.

Hope that helps....

The simple reason this happen to them was their D.O.B as we seemed obsessed about age in this sport but I am always being told that i favour older riders but were all allowed our opinions are we not .
