beesboybert
Well if I can find any odds on this then there is no doubt my money will be on Adams! Should be a breeze for him!

LisaColette
You cant worry about getting injurys as its all part of sport, they could pull out and both get injured in thier first ride on Monday night. Looking forward to tonight but dissappointed that it looks like Hans is missing. Yes, i understand that. But a nothing meeting like this - as that is what it is!! Could potentially ruin our season. As i said as long as bjarne and holder get through the meeting injury-free than i'll be happy.
Brummie Kev
Hope its a good meeting tonight despite all the pull outs. The racing recently has been very good and if it is tonight then it will bring a little bit more respctibility back to the meeting. As this is the only individual at Birmingham now after the axing of the second city trophy , I certantly hope its a good meeting. What irritates me is why is it only known on the day of the meeting that riders have pulled out. Whether riders are pulling out on the day of the meeting or the BSPA only tell supporters on the day of the meeting, its wrong really. Sadly it wont suprise me if more riders withdraw from this meeting. Still decent line up, It also wouldnt suprise me if the track record went tonight. parklife
Crump pulled out last year. Fed up with all of these excuses. We are going tonight to use our original tickets, but we won't return for another so called Super-7.
parklife
Update - according to the BSPA both Crump and Andersen ARE riding.
21st century heathen
Well, he'll be there, so I would assume he's riding. Perhaps he's in as a replacement for someone else? What is the format for this meeting? Is it 20 heats with the first two straight through to the final and a 'semi' featuring the next 4 with the 1st and 2nd joining them? That's what I've assumed, but I don't know for sure. First of all it is stupid to hold it during a GP week. Its also stupid to hold it in the middle of the playoff final Alternative suggestions? Before answering remember that this is the re-stage date, and that the Brummies have had a lot of rain-offs this season. They can only race on Wednesday or four (I think) Sundays (all of which have been used), and they've had to apply for special permision to start early and run more heats. You cant worry about getting injurys as its all part of sport, they could pull out and both get injured in thier first ride on Monday night. Or crash in the GP. The risk is no greater tonight than any other. Or stop it altogether? The riders haven't been bothered about it for quite a few years and it's very rare for the top averaged ones to be competing. It appears a report in the national press by Peter Oakes says Jason is doubtful with his groin injury too. And just as I was going to say that Adams and Crump are top riders that take it seriously. SUPERACE
The article in the paper will have been pened by Oakes over the weekend before crump rode Monday and it says Doubtful not out. He rode 4 good rides Monday then sat out heat 15 but was stood on the Center Green talking to Mort and DG for about 20 mins after the meeting so couldnt have been in that much pain. I would be very surprised if Jason isnt there unless he has felt some pain on Tuesday the day after the meeting. But like I said dont use Oakes article as a guide on whether he will ride or not as that will be a few days old. uk_martin
It will be interesting to see how the sport treats the city of Birmingham. This month we have the Horse of the Year Show, and the EDF Half Marathon amongst other things going on here, (http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=116067&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=126) so if this ELRC doesn't end up the event it was promised to be, I can't see the Council being too keen to embarrass itself by involving itself with the sport of Speedway again...and remember, there is a Planning Application about to be considered... Brummie Kev
Birmingham have one Sunday left and are using it for the outstanding PT meeting with King's Lynn. I think it would have been better to stage this meeting on that sunday, with that absolutly pointless PT meeting against KL put on a wednesday at the end of the season. The problem is KL are involved in the play offs and if they go all the way with the same race night as us it would be hard to race that on a wednesday, but saying that Kl could race one of their meetings on a friday allowing us to race against them on a wednesday. The crowd would be bigger if the ELRC was on a sunday and it would be after the play off final and GP so the riders would take it a bit more seriously. parklife
Is this the BSPA site? I wouldn't rely on that for up to date news!!! Word of mouth - BSPA offices. Crump and Andersen riding. Any rider who does not have a valid reason for his absence should be fined and suspended for 7 days even if it includes missing the GP. They are cheating the fans. CB252
It! - We rang the BSPA a few minutes ago and they stated that Crump and Andersen are riding. The BSPA, and Coventry, stated that Andersen was riding last time the meeting was due to be staged, despite being confronted by a report in the Pboro ET stating that he wasn't. If the weasel is there I'll be amazed!

A planning application is decided on planning grounds only. Who rides in this meeting will have absolutely no bearing on the outcome. Perhaps if he does pull out we should contact the BSPA and ask exactly why they stated the opposite.

Isn't it right that there was a 3 year lease or something? So that 3 years is now up & a reapplication has to be made. I take it some of the reasons may be the ongoing bugbear of noise. Really annoying that one, all these complaints about 2 hours a week are pathetic. I seem to recall Nigel Pearson did his own personal noise test by the student halls not so long back & couldn't hear a bloody thing from the stadium. uk_martin
We rang the BSPA a few minutes ago and they stated that Crump and Andersen are riding. COVENTRY captain Chris Harris has withdrawn from tonight's ELRC (7.30pm) after aggravating rib and back injuries. Harris sustained the problem in a heavy crash in practice for the Italian Grand Prix, and did further damage when riding for the Bees at Belle Vue on Monday. His place tonight is taken by team-mate Billy Janniro. Elsewhere, reports from the Swindon website indicate that Jurica Pavlic is out of the meeting with a twisted knee, his place going to Troy Batchelor. It was confirmed at midday on Wednesday that Hans Andersen has failed a fitness test on his shoulder after a heavy crash at Belle Vue on Monday. He is replaced by Eastbourne's Lewis Bridger. As it says... Edited October 8, 2008 by uk_martin
