I guess this is just one that we ain't going to agree on!! Taking a step back and removing either Tigers or Monarchs specs - who would you rather see race.............Leverington or Janirro? Ksiezak or Schlein? Josh G or Jason Lyons? Dicken or David Howe???

I just can't see how you could favour any Glasgow rider from the above. I think the chances of a Glasgow rider were made even slimmer with the full Monarchs 7 being fielded.

Finally - William will not be riding, so I think this debate may prove pointless - as I think a Glasgow rider will come in as a replacement. Plus Janirro is not confirmed either.

Your immediate reaction will be................

Well at least you're not patronising .

Look i agree that none of our remaining riders are a great attraction around Armadale , but that really isn't the point i was trying ( probably badly ) to make .

The Scottish Open should be one of the high points of the season and so should attract one of the largest crowds . I would assume the Edinburgh promotion would like to think that there would be a few coming through from the West . Surely the best way to encourage that would be to invite one of the Tigers riders .

I understand the Monarchs wanting to reward their riders for their outstanding contribution so far , but all seven in the field is going a bit overboard . I can never ever remember an individual event where the home team have done that .

But good luck to the Monarchs on their big night and i hope it's a good meeting .

................but thats not the point, they should've been invited in the first place, eh??!

And i never noticed your wee bit at the bottom , therefore messing up the quote .

Turn it round whatever way you like , but there used to be a certain amount of co-operation between the two Scottish sides . I'm sorry we are deemed not to be worthy of that now .

And there still is co-operation between the two clubs. After all it was Edinburgh who allowed Glasgow to take a look at a certain Peter Juul Larsen by allowing the Dane track time before he went to Ashfield :)

Sorry Paul but you are blowing this way out of proportion.

I'll try and make up for it in Poland!!

That's better

Is Makovsky that great around the Dale?

Doesn't jump out as a track specialist, is this done to attract Berwick fans?

Not a track specialist but his last few outings at the Dale have seen a much improved rider.

yeh that was well funny when fisher couldnt stay on his bike on fifteen just because mak had the racing line

That is one interpretation of it.

Interesting to read on here and on the Glasgow fans forum just how put out they are that none of their riders are included in the field for the Scottish Open.

Edinburgh have been accused of arrogance but it's nothing to the arrogance of the patronising posts advising the Edinburgh promotion on how they should run their one individual meeting of the year. Still it's nice to read how concerned the Glasgow fans are about the amount of lost revenue the Edinburgh promotion will suffer because of the absence of the hordes of Glasgow fans who would have been travelling to this match to watch whichever of their favourites they feel should have been invited. I bet that never occurred to JDC and co.

Personally I get as fed up seeing Glasgow riders at Armadale as no doubt they get at seeing Edinburgh riders at Ashfield. The Spring Trophy, the Premier Trophy, The Premier League, The Scottish Cup and some new triangular tournament scheduled for the end of the season. Thank goodness we weren't drawn against them in the KO Cup. It maybe never occurred to the Glasgow fans that the new and nearly new faces in the field will actually be a bigger attraction to some supporters than the usual Glasgow faces we have come to expect year in and year out. There was a time when they enhanced the meeting - Shane Parker, Craig Watson (many years ago) George Stancl, Danny Bird etc etc. But really this year with Shane Parker out who would you invite? You can argue for Anders Andersen, Peter Juul Larsen, Josh Grajczonek I guess but that's the Edinburgh promotion's decision.

I'm afraid that the Glasgow fans will just have to lump it. And if no Edinburgh riders are invited to the Ashfield Classic you'll get no gripes from me. I will probably still attend though as I usually do.

In the meantime the Glasgow fans will no doubt continue to try to persuade the neutrals that we're..how does Paulco put it?....the forces of darkness riding at the....err...stadium of mince - you know the one that doesn't have square corners  while they continue to argue from the high moral ground as the self appointed first team in Scotland (jeez).

If there are call-offs and a Glasgow rider is invited to take part as a result then I'm sure the sense of indignation will have been fed through to them and they will do the decent thing and decline. Maybes aye..maybes no.

Certainly that's all that those miserable, torn face Weegies, provide in the way of condiments, in their Chippies, unlike their generous counterparts in the Capital city who offer the choice of sauce or vinegar to their patrons. :P

Anyway the Capital's establishments offer superior suppers :D

i think you will find salt and sauce is the question asked in the east when ordering their dover sole and pomme frites at the bistro.........whereas in the west its salt and vinegar with anything deep fried you fancy to go your chips at the chippy

Erm , well , aye , um , well that's me telt .

I aired my opinion on the " showpiece " individual event on the Scottish calender , after the Ashfield Classic and Heathersfield Silver Helmet , and people disagree - it's all a matter of opinions .

I'm sure the Scottish Open will be it's usual success , well as much as it can be without Glasgow riders gracing the round cornered award winning track .

I'm away back now , riding my high horse up to the moral highground , but i shall return venting my spleen on the forces of darkness at the earliest opportunity .

:lol: Can I get a lift on your high horse sometime my friend to the moral highground. It's a hell of a climb from the bowels of hell and I'm not sure I'll make it on foot.

Love tigerblues idea of putting a Tigers' racejacket on Stoney. However a few more appearances for us and we'll need a combined Edinburgh/Glasgow/Workington race jacket. Nah on second thoughts let's just stick with the Glasgow one- after all I think he has a better average for Glasgow than he has for us or Workington!
