trainer Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Share Posted July 30, 2008 Post code for Northside Track is CA14 1NG The name of the road is Delta Drive (But there is no sign up saying so) It is down as unamed road Instructions Follow A66 to its end in Workington you will come to a set of trafic lights take right hand lane and turn right, follow this road for abour 1/2 a mile down a hill past the police station on left over the river. At the roundabout take 1st exit for about 1/2 mile the river is on your left. At Next roundabout take 1st exit signposted The Port of Workington follow road over hump backed bridge (railway) past oil depo on left 50 yards turn right hight restriction barrier this will be open. Follow road over 4 speed humps track is on right sign says Alledale Motor Project. I believe track will be signposted from the end of the A66 in Workington From Scotland and North East Head to Carlisle Then take A595 and head to Cockermouth then follow signs for Workington(A66) then as above. If you end up on A596 dont wory just follow it to Workington when you pass Dunmail park on left 1/4 mile you come to a roundabout take 3rd exit for The Port Of Workington then as above. Yeah Right !!! It would be nice to know and I dare say very encouraging for the young lads them selves to get some credit somewhere for trying to make the grade. dandy Posted August 17, 2008 Report Share Posted August 17, 2008 I heard that a lot of the under 15 boys would not enter this round as there was no fuel money available if this is true shame on the promoters the boys have the same costs as any big riders. The boys give up a lot to ride speedway and yes they are still very young and have lots to learn but when tracks are making money off the events that are run surely they could stretch to a gallon of fuel I for one would like to know what happens to all the sponsorship money and the gate money that was took in . Last year at Northside it was said that all money taken in was to go into the track and it would be made biggar but that didnt happen the boys all risk damage to themselves and thier bikes for what nothing meantime the promoters have big fat wallets this could be called exploitation so it's about time the b.s.p.a did somthing about this before we lose boys from the sport. Like I said no reason to change the format depending on number of riders entered. Has always worked in the past so no need to make the heats up. I don't think that clubs run these events to make money and covering the costs of the paramedics is paramount.Insurance and trophys will cost a bit and from day one all riders know there are no expenses available to cover costs so I doubt your facts are valid. Northside is a stand alone training venue and certainly do not have big fat wallets. They do however supply drinks and pasties from the local bun shop free when you pay to train and no others do that. Well done to Judith and her crew for another succesfull meeting. Thomas Armstrong Supplied nothing for this meeting the people mentioned all donated for this meeting.there was also no official help from Workington Speedway. Armstrongs have been thanked on numorous occations for there invalid help in building the track 7 years ago. Quite rite morgan bike it did cost a lot of money to put onthis event & no fat proffit at the end & dont forget the £250 licence fee for the day. Last years event was run by Workington Speedway (Tony Mole) not NSTT so the money from last year could not go into making the track bigger maybee if some of the sky money was channelled our way we would be able to do it or SCB money, Last year it cost Tony Mole several thousand pounds out of pocket to put the event on.
