Jenn
We were having a bit of a chat at Kirky Lane tonight regarding some comments made on SKY over the World Cup and I just wanted to see what the opinion was on here. Apologies if its being discussed anywhere else and I'm not deliberatly picking on Denmark, but on a number of seperate occasions, Danish riders went on TV discussing picking which position to finish in (Bjerre misunderstanding and getting a first not second, deciding at heat 20 were they wanted to finish in the first meeting etc) With in-play betting available in Speedway these days, is this not virtually the same as what would be considered match fixing in other sports?? Fully agree. I believe there is a rule for non triers but it would be difficult to prove.
Liontamer
It's called team tactics. The Danish riders chat to each other constantly geeing each other up in the pits, while the team manager keeps them informed on the match progress. Team GB on the other hand sit in the pits moaning that they can't get their bikes "dialled in", or the track's too slick, while their team manager stands on the terraces with the crowd, & occasionally puts his head in his hand when the cameras are on him. Glenn
Yes - Team GB is a shambles - a team full of Coventry riders and the result was pathetic. If ever there was an example of training riders for the future then Denmark and Sweden proved it totally. We might as well throw in the towel now as I cannot see the GB getting anywhere near them - look at the riders queuing up to fill the Danish team of the future! and the Swedes and Aussies for that matter... And who have GB got ... Tai Woffinden . And the BSPA's answer to this will be to reintroduce the bonus point next season !!! Rant over
Snyper1010
Match fixing?? no. Tactics to avoid having the world cup stolen off them by a stupid double point rule? yes. Also if you was watching the meeting the Poles were the ones talking of throwing the heat so that they could bring Gollob in on a Joker (TR) so therefore the Danes were simply trying to crush that plan from them. Also i am so glad team "england" as they like to call it got no where. Why the hell do they have the GB race jacket yet they all get away with calling it team england. Nice way to lose countless fans up north. Anyway Jim Lynch is a disgrace, the way he handled himself in the interviews was shocking. Shouting about Scotty not making contact when infact it was clear to all that he took Ljung clean out. Anyway good luck to the Danes to retain it next year
shazzybird
Yes - Team GB is a shambles - a team full of Coventry riders and the result was pathetic. Might have helped if they'd gone out and practised when they had the chance at Coventry, I'm led to believe Scott never went out for practise and a couple of others. The thing last year which was mentioned over and over again with regard to Middlo, was that they never had practise sessions meetings etc .... if you can't get the riders to practise before the WTC what chance do you stand getting them to race in a "practise" meeting I remember a meeting at Eastbourne where the opposing team (yep sorry it was Poole) both riders failed to finish a race, that resulted in an inquiry I think. Can't really remember why was it something to do with being able to ride a tacticle of some sort? and what was the outcome?

The egos have landed....Shows what the its all about me attitude does...think some one forgot to tell them the word TEAM was somewhere in the championship title...how can you get team riding tactics down if you dont train together at least once on the rae track. As for the tactical wild card it should be scrapped it does nothing for the meeting or improving anything take a look at the WTC no matter how many england played they wernt going to score any points and it turns the meeting into a joke. A team should fall on the sword by its own bad performance and not sneak by on tryin to scrape these xtra points. I could imagine what would happen if the FA decided if you in a premier leauge match if you go 3 goals down the first goal you scored was worth

Was you not watching the meeting Shazzy? Scotty said it as did lynch. Everytime chris louis spoke he said it. Tai said it, the Danish manager said it but was the only one to immediately corrext himself. so please dont patronise me about one person saying it on here they said it all night long in both meetings. As did a brummie at Armadale. Well i also love to see GB get stuffed anway as im Scottish. Good luck next year team "england" you will need it. hatcham
Batchelor for starters. what troy is going to attain the heights of crump adams sullivan wiltshire etc ? he is a decent enough rider and may achieve similar to shields, watt, schlein etc,but i dont see him ever being too much better than that. Seb the Snail
hatcham - I didn't say that Troy was going to achieve anything specific, but then again you only asked who they have "for the future". If he keeps progressing then I can see him being a 9 point man in the Elite and a GP regular. He's certainly improved hugely in the last season and a half, and not just because the league has been diluted.

I'll stick my neck out. I'm convinced Troy will be at least as good as Sullivan and Wiltshire. He'll be a GP regular within 5 years.
