mick cast
During the commentary on the final, they stated that the stadium was full and they were turning people away. The wife claims that they said the ground held 40.000 and 80.000 had turned up. My response being that I did not think Vojens held more than 15.000 to 18.000 people maximum. "Well that's what they said". she hissed, in her best (don't believe me at your peril) tone. So please can any one help!!! I have tried the vojens site and they don't mention capacity. Her only other comments on this years World cup series, have been a) gb were rubbish(coventry) and Tai Woffinden brilliant(after his heat win in the run offs). I need to find something she got wrong this week!!!!!!!. Help!!!!!!
Steve Shovlar
18,000 pre sold tickets plus whoever turned up. Crowd looked good but there were many more there in 93 for the world final. I stood on the first bend that night and I thnk it was 26,000.Mind you they had temp stands on the back straight.

Steve, I think you meant 1994, the year of the race off for the title between Rickardsson, Nielsen and Boyce! But yes, it was definitely over 25,000 that night However, taken from the Vojens Speedway Centre, History Page: Ole Olsen said: "I explained people, that they would be seeing real speedway, that there would be a track, and that the first thing I wanted was a good and safe track." In September 1975, shortly after winning his second WC title at Wembley, a proud Ole Olsen cut the wire to Vojens Speedway Center. Over 40.000 fans arrived and another 10.000 had to drive back home. Rob B
Got back from Denmark last night, don't know how big the attendance was but it was very big, we were packed in like sardines, didn't bother trying to get food or go to the toilet during the meeting as the queues were about 300 yards long. We got there early and got a a good parking spot on the road but as we drove away afterwards there were cars parked lining the roads upto 2-3 miles away. We went back to Haderslev where we were staying and there were cars driving about waving flags beeping their horns, it was a big thing for them over there.
