superguest
A shame that in the final stages of a meeting that this sort of thing should be going on........all down to the stupid double points rule. I think its a great way to keep us all interested. Id have hoped Denmark would have won yes, but even still its a test for the managers and riders and under so much pressure and adrenalin, great drama. I think the Joker rule is good but maybe should be increased 8 like in the EL (I Know its 9 and 10 now)

London Witch
Well done Danes, fantastic team spirit and they all sang the National Anthem. I had been torn who to support before the meeting but I put the Polish/Witches connections above Hans and Nicki in the end, but certainly wasn't disappointed in the end result. Tomek and Jarek along with Jagus almost pulled it off for the Poles but needed a bit more support. Freddie Lindgren was excellent for the Swedes, backed up by Jonas Davidsson. AJ not his usual self, and was the first to admit it. The Aussies, oh dear... was a little disappointed that Holder didn't attempt to clear the track when he fell. Well done again DENMARK. Steve Shovlar
Difference is speedway in Denmark can get big press, like Poland and Sweden. The sport is taken seriously by the media and you can bet all the nationals will have full page pics and reports of the winning Danish team plastered across the front of newspapers. In the UK, with an final held at Coventry, with TeamGB winning a last heat deoider, and we might get a quarter of a column 5 pages in from the back in the Daily Express. Shortcrust
Massive congrats to the Danish National Team on another great World Team Cup victory. Just loved how happy Niels was in his interview....ahhhhh
Mr. Clemens
Well done Denmark Tonight's meeting is what speedway is all about Gripping from start to finish At least for those who stayed on their bikes
rabbit
Big well done to Denmark. Overall the best team won in what was a pretty entertaining meeting. Shame the rain turned it from some cracking racing to survival of the fittest, but still worth watching right to the wire. Really pleased to see Bjarne do so well, hopefully dispelling some of the negative comments that he seems to attract for some unknown reason. Definitely some good young names starting to come through at the top - just a shame there's not more Brits in that company. Surprised to see how quickly the Aussie heads dropped to be honest - the Swedes however have impressed all week - perhaps not the strongest team on paper but still in the mix and so close to sneaking second until the last bunch of races. Think the Poles might've made a mistake withtracking Walsek tonight. He's one of my favourites from Poole, but so inconsistent - his performance tonight just proving it. Much as I don't rate KK, I wonder whether he might've been a bit more aggressive on that track. Still we'll never know... Just a shame next years competition is back in Poland though. boxer123
Well fought and well won !! What a team. Poland were worthy runners up. Every Danish rider played their part on and off the track. Very pleased especially for Hans. Goes a little way to negate the problems with Horton To those on the Witches forum who are less than gracious to Denmark .... How do you like them apples

You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I prefer to support a system that means that the better man wins..................
mikec
Sorry, i just have no time for the "joker" rule, keeping it interesting or not - it's just nonsense - especially in a World Cup Final, a battle between the best teams on the planet. Had to explain it to a non-speedway fan, explained it to him that it's like when you fall behind by a decent amount & it was applied to other sports that a Flintoff '6' might count twelve or a Ronaldo goal might count as 2 - reward for being inferior - he just thought it was stupid. Fortunately the rule didn't matter tonight, though the Poles showed great fight tonight anyway. Congrats to the Swedes by the way, thought they showed a lot of fight after an awful start. Lindgren is a World Champion in waiting for me, have changed my opinion completely on Jonas Davidsson too, he's been outstanding this week. It is a well done Denmark thread - they are worthy champs. Phillip Addison
Congratulations have to go to Denmark. Fantastically enjoyable meeting, it had everything. The Aussies were extremely unlucky [ as i am tonight with this party with the damned students next door ] Can hardly think with the noise at the moment but what came out for me most was the amazing team spirit of the Danes, reminded me of the Americans of the 80's, as Niels Kristian Iversen said ' all one unit ' Poland can count themselves a bit unlucky with the Hampel crash situation, just a bad piece of track at that time but they battled valliantly and Sweden just never recovered from the terrible start. Fantastic crowd of 18,000 too. Great advert for Speedway.
leanne1706
Woohoo - well done Denmark!! Been cheering the boys on all night, and it obviously paid off Did anyone else hear Bjarne at the end of heat 24? When Nicki was celebrating, I could have sworn I saw Bjarne run over and say "have we won?"... might not have been, was probably something that sounds similar in Danish, but sure gave us all here a chuckle! Cracking meeting all round - well impressed with the Swedes, and the best team won. Hope Crump's injury isn't too bad. He looked in a fair amount of discomfort. Trees
It must be so good to have everyone in your country on your side like Denmark, I'm thinking the DMU and fans of course, not many national speedway teams have that. It's really no wonder that the danes are so determined and patriotic to the cause, they have no cause not to be eh! They had what seemed like a great team spirit and a team with strength all the way through, well done to them.
Jenkie
I will add my congratulations to Denmark as well, although I'd have liked the Poles to win. A fantastic meeting, and credit should go to the Poles and Swedes who kept the meeting alive right up to the end. Commiserations to Australia, if it hadn't been for Jason withdrawing, well, who knows what the final outcome might have been. Pleased to see Hans Andersen do so well after the rubbish week he has had in the UK. I hope it's nothing too serious for Jason Crump and he makes a speedy recovery. BigFatDave
Congrats to the Danes (Grumble Grumble Whinge Whinge) and Commiserations to the remaining Finalists. Here's hoping Jason's OK. PS At least the Mighty Richmond Tigers had a win, thrashing the Bombers by 4 points, oh and the Wallabies beat the Jaapies 2 tries to nil, so its not all DOOM & GLOOM!! You are absolutely right there Steve, I have friends who are friends of the Blackwells who looked after Nicki Pedersen's engines in GB, they went on holiday to Denmark, and Nicki picked them up from the airport, apparently Nicki was mobbed at the airport, and it took them ages to get out while he signed autographs for fans. While over there they stay in Nicki Pedersen's flat, and while they were there had to put up with people staring through the windows looking to see if Nicki was in, over in Denmark he is the next most famous face to the Royalty.
