I don't think those individual scores are correct, including Australia's team score, which should be 33.

Here is how I have it worked out:

Australia..33

1..T Batchelor..2,0,0,3,1,1 = 7

2..R Ksiezak..1,0,1 = 2

3..C Holder..3,3,3,3,3,1 = 16

4..T Proctor..0,2,3,0,2,1 = 8

5..K Smith..0,0,0,0 = 0

Denmark..39

1..N Klindt..3,3,2,1,3 = 12

2..P Hougaard..3,2,2,3,3,3 = 16

3..P Kildemand..1,0,W,W,0 = 1

4..R Bach..1,3,2,0,0 = 6

5..M Risager..1,2,1,0 = 4

Poland..40

1..M Mitko..0,1,2,2,2 = 7

2..A Mroczka..0,1,3,2,3 = 9

3..G Zengota..0,2,3,3,0 = 8

4..M Janowski..3,3,2,1,2 = 11

5..D Pytel..2,2,0,1,0 = 5

Sweden..38

1..K Nilsson..1,3,1,2,2 = 9

2..L Lindgren..2,1,0,2,0 = 5

3..S Gustafsson..2,1,1,3,1 = 8

4..R Kling..2,1,1,1,3 = 8

5..B Forsberg..3,0,1,2,2 = 8

The stupid rule of not having a reserve, or any way of replacing an injured rider, effectively cost Denmark the title.

Too much to hope that the F.I.M will sort this out?

The 4th time this competition has been held - and the 4th Polish win! Congratulations, Poland.

They allowed reserves last year, then took them away again this year.

I really didn't understand that move.

Edit - a completely inept performance from Morten Risager was also a fairly important factor in Denmark's loss.

Well, they had reserves for the main SWC, I'm not sure about the Under-21 version. But everyone said the Poles abused the reserve rule to win the SWC, so it was binned again. A bit silly from the FIM, who should've manipulated the rule so that you could use the reserve a set number of times (5 rides, as per the other riders) during the meeting to replace an injured or under-performing rider. However, that would open the door to teams naming mega-strong reserves and then picking and choosing when to use them.

I don't understand the hold Risager has over some people, who counter every dismal performance with a reference to his age. They'll be saying "remember he's still only 29-years-old" in a few years time. He just hasn't got what it takes. Lacking in the testicle department, if you ask me.

As soon as the FIM announced that reserves could only be used for injured riders, it was pretty obvious what was likely to happen.

I think there should be a reserve, who could replace any other rider at any time - it all helps to make the meeting more interesting (and gives the team manager more to do)

But, to prevent teams putting their best rider at the reserve position, the reserve can only have 4 rides maximum, as opposed to 5 rides for the full team members.

It ain't rocket science!

Have to say Batchelor was a big disappointment. And like i said a lot would depend how Risager went.Well he didn't

Denmark lost it with the injury to Kildemand.Thought it was announced that the Doctor wouldn't let him take any further part in the meeting.Looked a terrible crash from where i was.Right by it.So was very surprised to see him come out for his last ride.

Feel sorry for the Danish lads and Jan & Erik.

But congratulations to Poland. They fought back when it seemed lost with that poor start.

You really have to doff your cap to the Poles, who endured a terrible start to the meeting, finishing last in the first three heats. And they lost two of their potential high scorers to injury in recent weeks (Pawlicki and Gomolski), so to win is a superb achievement.

They should win everything given the way speedway is set up in Poland, they have EVERYTHING going for them don't they??!!

That smacks a little of bitterness there Trees. We could have the same input from grass roots up in those in authority decided to make the investment. Unfortunately, we operate an every man for himself or his club attitude, and sadly when it comes to international competition these days, that shines through.

Where's the investment coming from then, first they need millions of pounds each to buy their stadiums, so they're finished before they start!

Well how about a big chunk of the Sky money going into development for a start? How much was the last contract signed for? It doesn't need huge stadiums to bring on talent, just financial backing to help those who have that talent to make the transition through the ranks. How do you think our Olympians have done so well over the recent years...investment in training and coaching and financing. Perhaps a track where daily racing isn't a problem to be made a central training area for riders? It ain't rocket science really and if the will is there, there'll always be a way.
