DOGGYDOG
Been watching speedway on the tv for a few years but last night was the first time i've ever seen it live as we've no team in York and sod supporting another town Anyway, I don't think I could have chosen a worse meeting to make my first! Either that or the t.v. makes it look better, because i'd be lying if I said I wasn't bored for most of the night. Very little to cheer about all night, and largely very dull races. Dunno if i'll be back to such an event but that's largely because of how far away it is, bit too much of a risk to be bored after spending a few £. Like any sport though, if you're losing it's awful, if you're winning it's usually great. The grid girls get the thumbs up though! I live in York and have to travel about to see my Speedway (mostly to watch the not so mighty Racers) I use to go to Hull as not to far from York, but after they won the Premier they decided to close it down. You could always go to always go to Redcar ( you might get a shock at the luxurious facilities) . Most Man Utd fans don't live in Manchester so you could always just support the top Elite team, whoever that is
Mark
Is it true that Scotty & Bomber don't get on ? Shame if so.
Deano4265
I've been to Coventry, in 70, 80, 90's and have only ever seen dirt on th track at one meeting and that was when the late great Kenny Carter won the British Final with a broken leg, the track was a wash and had to be covered in extra shale to try and soak up the water. - Anyway slick or not it was the same for all 4 teams, and 2 riders from the PL had wins, says it all. Coventry_Bee
Is it true that Scotty & Bomber don't get on ? Shame if so. I dont think there is a major problem but the GP run-off situation and Scotty not being at coventry this year maybe hasnt helped things but aslong as it doesnt get silly then i cant see it being a bad thing. Alot of people maybe read alot more into it than Bomber and Scott do.
NOBBY
I dont think there is a major problem but the GP run-off situation and Scotty not being at coventry this year maybe hasnt helped things but aslong as it doesnt get silly then i cant see it being a bad thing. Alot of people maybe read alot more into it than Bomber and Scott do. It's already at 'silly stage' if two grown up adults can't get together, talk sensibly and sort out their differences. A team thrives on team spirit and team work just as much as it does on adrenalin and ALL the team need to be pulling together and helping EACH OTHER out, especially when backs are against the wall like they are with Team GB at the moment. If they are going to stay like a couple of kids at loggerheads with each other then for christ sake get shot of them both and give some new riders chance to prove themselves for the future. It is as much Jim Lynch's job to work on team spirit and team work as it is the riders and if he can't sort it out quickly then he is not bthe right man for the job. I would rather see us lose on Thursday with some new riders that can start to bond together for the future than lose with the ssame old faces and stories of riders not getting on together and not getting on with the job in hand !!!! 21st century heathen
Wasn't impressed by the ref, nor the dodgy tapes. Forgot about those. They were going up a bit on the skew. I'll definitely be back in the not so distant future, I enjoyed the whole experience just not the result! That's good. A happy customer. The BSPA should have you stuffed and put on display. To many years and disappointments has the rest of us somewhat jaded I think. Hey-ho. Onwards and upwards?
Coventry_Bee
I was more thinking about if the racing took a back step and it was Nicholls vs Harris and it became dangerous. I think they are both level headed enough to know where the limits are, i always think riders can be to matey especially those in the GP series . As i said , people can make the competition between the two more intense but on the track its down to each other to ride hard but fair. Scott has been easily our best rider for many years and i think its good that bomber has given him a kick up the backside, both have many more years riding left in them and the time will come when, be it bomber or another (doubtful) rider takes over scotts position. Fromafar
When you say no passing you mean the brits did not pass anybody .The meeting i watched had a fair bit of passing .
21st century heathen
There was a fair number of passes, but generally when someone made a mistake by drifting a metre off the curb. I prefer it when riders can use every line, including a big blast round the boards in the dirt.
Bagpuss
Couldn't agree more sir. The best speedway is generally found on a track with a decent amount of grip which is well maintained throughout the meeting.
