Havvy is the only man for the job. Speaks his mind, loads of pride, great motivator and would not put up with the rubbishe that has been going on tonight.

What would he do then? Tune their bikes up for them?, Ride for them? At the end of the day the riders are to blame much the same as the footballers and cricketers who constantly fail...as someone said failure in sport is a British speciality.

Lynch..and I am not a fan..picked the five riders tonight mainly because they are Coventry past or present. We all know why we were shown up, because Denmark have 5..count em 5...GP riders..Sweden have 2 with 3 very good back up riders. TBH Simon Stead was poor tonight but I thought Olly Allen rode his bollocks off

Jesus christ. Give the bloke a chance! I'm not a fan of Lynch's, but at the end of the day he's made a mistake tonight. He put Stead and Allen in for Kennett and Woffinden, as he was obviously confident that they could do a job. They haven't, but whoop-de-doo. Everyone's under performed tonight in the Great Britain team.

I think it's Lynch's master plan deflect the media gaze, then win the play off and the final (less pressure on Scotty now)

we are a shocking side no arguments there, but come on we wont be beaten by russia, not at vojens

Why won't they?

They scored 36 on Saturday on a track which, I think, none of them ride regularly. Sajfutdinov doesn't even ride in the Ekstraliga and he was their best rider.

We scored 25.5 on a track all 5 of the team are either current or former riders of.

There's every chance Russia will beat us on Thursday.

And if Stead had scored a dozen, you would have been saying how it was your idea in the first place, Steve. Your 20:20 hindsight is miraculous! Frankly, if it's so blooming obvious, why did Middlo, the man whose management abilities you rate so highly, decide to stick with home track knowledge?

Still thumping the tub for unSteady? Only in a weird parallel universe would unSteady have scored 12 points. Quite possibly the most over-hyped rider of all time. And don't suggest it's hindsight from me:

So where are you all now, all the Neil Middlditch Bashers, who said Neil can't do this, Neil can't do that Neil can't pick his nose!. Im not going to slate Jim Lynch, it PROVES what a very hard job he has, with once again for the grillion time with the limited amount of TOP class riders we have at our disposal.

Every year, people on this forum pulled Neil to pieces at every opportunity!. Yes ok, we've lost Mark Havvy Floppy Joe screen, etc but half of them had gone during Neils reine, we have lads like Eddie Kennett Tai woffenden Danny King, etc but after that who else have we got?. Again we are very short on TOP class riders. They said the track was slick tonight, phoey, its the same for ALL the teams!. To my mind there wasno interest no comitment no team spirt no atmosphere either in the pits nor on the Terraces!. just goes to show what a good job Neil did during his time as Team GB manager!!.

Its about time it came back to Poole, at least there will be a bit of Atmosphere there, might just do the riders good as well!!.

Well I saw that coming... on the back of last years performance in the final, which is why I stayed at home, this was always on the cards. Lynch made a terrible error for me by announcing before the competition had even started that Allen and Stead wouldn't be riding any further on in the competition.

Blame the track, the engine setup, gating or the riders inability to raise their game... any of the usual stuff but for me it's been the gradual deteriation of the standard of the so called "Elite League" over the last 5 or 6 years that has left us in the state we are in today, christ! none of our boys could even win a race in the GP's until they were on home soil.

The Elite has now been watered down to the standard of the Premier League which was shown tonight by the fact that Premier riders were beating our boys! Maybe good for close league matches (this year only) but a disaster internationally. Just look at heat 13 line ups from Coventry over the last few weeks

Heat 13: Adams, harris, Schlein, McGowan

Heat 13:Pedersen, Holder, Swiderski, Burza

Heat 13: Harris, Crump, Stead, Screen

Heat 13: Jonsson, Harris, Davidsson, Stead

Heat 13: Pedersen, Harris, Holder, Stead

Heat 13: Crump, Schlein, Stead, Screen

Heat 13: Stead,Hampel,Schlein,Miskowiak

Heat 13: Nicholls. Stead. Schlien. Kennett

It wasn't so long back that you could expect to see Rickardsson, Loram, Hamill Hancock riding in heat 13 with all of them at the top of their game, even the commentators used to say the lineup would grace the final of a Grand Prix, and out of that lot since the start of the season we've only seen maybe 1 of the riders in the race in a GP final if we're lucky.

A lot of foreigners maybe, but if our boys are not riding against the best how are they supposed to beat the best?

Havvy for England manager!!

... Will the last one out of the Elite League please turn the lights off

Your point about heat 13's is spot on Iain B. Been talking about this down at BV for a while with the lads - the quality getting watered down while the entry fees rise. Unlikely this'll improve either - Elite League falling way behind it's Swedish & Polish counterparts - it's a real problem.

Would Middlo really have done any better tonight? Assuming he had picked Kennett and Woffinden instead of Stead and Allen, would GB have won? Not a chance.

Team GB had their chance to win the World Cup under Middlo, and missed out. They aren't going to get another chance any time soon, not with Denmark, Australia and Poland around, whether Middlo was still manager or not.

People need to face reality - no matter who rides for GB and who manages them we aren't going to win, the best we can hope for is to get to the final and make up the numbers and rebuild for the future - sadly a very distant future based on the current pool of GB riders.

Hone, Vega, and a load of others called for Middlo's head. Truth is he was our 6th rider and the reason we papered over the cracks for so long, which are now clearly evident.

He didn't stand down because of family business commitments then?

Also blaming down a watered down EL doesn't hold water. Denmark has an almost non existant league but produces top riders.

but the danes, swedes and poles all move on to ride in the swedish and polish leagues (acknowledged as the strongest leagues) out of our lot who rides regularly in these leagues and more importantly how well do they do?
