Eyejay
Guys, can anyone please tell me how accesable the town of Malilla in Sweden is from Stockholm or Gothenburg. I intend going out there at some point to watch Dackarna ride in the Swedish Elite League. I would be grateful for any help. Thanks Eyejay Edited July 13, 2008 by Eyejay

Just checked it out and it appears that Malilla is approx 4 hours south of Stockholm and approx 3 hours East of Gothenburg. http://kartor.eniro.se/ Then click on Vägbeskrivning after you have typed your destination. You can then decide where you want to travel from. Edited July 13, 2008 by Lanzilla

Anders
You'll definitely need to hire a car at the airport, don't think of any public transportation to get you to Målilla. It is possible to get there by train of course, but not particulary convenient.

It is possible to get there by train of course, but not particulary convenient. its some 5-6 hours with train and bus from Gothenburg to Målilla. The same journey is some 4-5 hours by car. From Arlanda Airport between 5-6 hours with public transportation and about 4-4½ hours to drive. use these links to check journey times: http://trafikinfo.vv.se/triniMenu/trinimenu.html?startmenu=5 http://www.resplus.se/ Edited July 13, 2008 by Ghostwalker
Eyejay
Once again thanks folks - seems it could be a colossal journey - and I doubt a cheap one either. I think I will maybe pass on Dackarna and stick with Hammarby, at least they ride in Stockholm!! speedway2006
We have done Dackarna before, flew into Gothenburg, hired a car, its about a 3 hour drive south from there. Stayed in vetlanda just up the road and then went on to the meeting at Dackarna. There really is very little in Malilla itself. It's doable for about £150 all in if you book in advance with Ryanair, use Avis Car Hire.
Bradford Ace
Sounds pretty reasonable that. Where do you fly from??
speedway2006
Fly from London Stansted which is a bit of a pain but it's quite straight forward to do. As someone pointed out earlier, the Michelin route plans are excellent. The roads are excellent, hardly ever any traffic, dual carriage way all the way. just watch out for stray moose!
