Chewbacca
I don't have a "problem". Just that out of the four Premier League events three are in the "North". Only a Southerner would think Sheffield is the North. it's 3 hours drive south for us and 5 hours for the Jocks. It's closer to North London than Newcastle. I guess some Sheffield fans will claim they are Northerners but geographically, they are wrong. M62 up over is 'the North'.
redlight
To be fair the Fours have always had a very good attendance and been good meetings when held at worky, and while i can see the argument of holding the major PL events at an Elite league track there is also the point that the money generated from the event should be kept in the premier league as i am sure Somerset would agree, perhaps the PLRC should be held in the midlands(Birmingham?)to ensure a fair regional split of the 3 big events, as stated in another post Workington fans do have to travel a lot supporting the comets and going to the other showpiece meetings so perhaps one big meeting a season isnt to much to ask for they are after all one of the best supported teams in the league. John Hannibal Thomas
I wonder if this is Rye suffering after their pull out from the pairs the other year cos ginga neath couldnt be arsed to ride?

I would hope not, if that's the case then it's a shame, hardly the Rye fans fault
rhidassa
Thats been the problem with most of these events for the past few years and why most teams fans don't give a toss about them. Stuck up in the far north of the country with crap weather usually about as usual in the grim North and in not particularly nice stadia with massive home track advantage. What was wrong with the fours back at Peterborough last season. Traditional home, no home track advantage, good track, decent venue and decent crowd? Little Jonny wanted to make a mark with these events, but after a season it looks like he couldn't be bothered and went back to venues and areas of the country that don't work. Still he doesn't have to worry anymore as someone upset him and he took his crayons away. I should have guessed who wrote that. Nice to see so much discussion on this thread about the racing, the likely winners, rather than the location. I'd have loved it to be at Peterborough and its almost certain I cant get up to Workington. Guess what? Get over it. Its not going to change. Maybe next year (if they do these things properly and rotate all these events round different tracks) it'll be down South, eh? I look forward to seeing the updates for this meeting, I'm hoping very much our boys can do as well as we did last year (perhaps even better :wink). Its certainly going to be an excellent night of racing.

You tell people from Sheffield they are not Northerners then lets see what response you get. I have nothing against Northerners or the North in fact I spent nearly every other weekend oop North between the ages of 16 and 23, that is if you count Manchester as being North. I think we should form a breakaway - with the river tyne as the dividing line. only the jocks can match us for intelligence and alco-capacity. Sunderland-Smogs/Clowns are southerners in the eyes of the great jon-o-tan thomas.

Still he doesn't have to worry anymore as someone upset him and he took his crayons away What's the betting that he was made to ditch the neutral venue idea and that it was the first step towards him chucking it in? Peterborough last year was especially good and I think its a poor decision to take it back to Worky. They have arguably the strongest top four anyway so it will be a big suprise if they don't win the thing.
