smartace
George was great company off the track.Had a real good chat with him at the first ever GP in Wroclaw. After retiring he became a long distance lorry driver, based in the Midlands and doing runs onto the Continent.Unfortunately, although totally blameless,he was involved in the crash in which Peter Craven died.I am lucky enough to have been watching since the mid-sixties and love it when i bump into one of the old school. My dream is to win the lottery and fly to Aussie First class.I would take with me Eric Boocock,Colin Pratt and Neil Street. After a couple of drinks and two or three ditties you would be getting off at the other end before you know it !!!! Beowulf
At Wolves one of the things that George is supposed to have said was......................always try and make your pass on the third bend at Monmore on the inside. From the referees viewpoint he cannot tell if there was any contact and so if the rider on the outside fell off the referee would automatically have to exclude him.
