Saint Rob
But the Polish plonker of a ref spoilt the besT GP ever for Bjarne Pedersen. Oh, so Bjarne didn't WIN in Wroclaw in 2004 then
Eastie
Oh, so Bjarne didn't WIN in Wroclaw in 2004 then This time he won 4 out of 5 and would have won the semi. I know he has won a GP before but his riding in this GP was by far his best performance by a long way. In the 2004 GP at Wroclaw he only won 2 out of his 5 rides Edited June 30, 2008 by Eastie

diamond@heart
The rider named is the biggest cheat that i have known in speedway and i have not beeen a fan for a long time (say no more unlesd you want to). I FEEL VERY STRONG ABOUT A RIDER WHO GETS 2 RIDERS ELIMINATED BY STAYING DOWN PRETENDING TO BE INJURED AND THEN GETTING UP AND FEELING FINE. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE WILL NOT LIKE THIS BUT I REALLY THINK IF THIS RIDER CARRIES ON DOING THESE SORT OF THINGS AND GETS AWAY WITH IT THEN I WILL START TO SAVE MY MONEY AND NOT BOTHER WITH GP's ALONG WITH OTHER PEOPLE AS THIS IS BLATENT CHEATING. Chris Harris after smashing in to the fench heat 20 (near where we were 4 bend) top man for deciding to carry on racing and just shows what a twit and prat is mentioned above. Apologies if the above offends people but there you go. Can I just point out that contact was made with Nicki on both times by both Adams and Bjarne and although Nicki stayed down for a while and did not appear injured, he only did what Gollob has been doing for years, giving his pit crew time to repair his machinery. This constant Nicki bashing is getting pathetic now Also, Nicki did not get two riders eliminated by staying down, I think the referee chose to disqualify them. tocha
I do believe rabbit has been on a speedway bike, have you? Luke Bowen was a rabbit on a speedway bike when IOW were the visitors in the second leg of the KO cup in 2007. Being hunted down by Chris Holder in heat one he was so scared he broke the track record!
Paula
I cant believe people who were in the stadium that night can believe that Nicki P was responsible for the so called incidents. Yes he was at fault and neither Adams or Bjarne sholud have been excluded. But the person making the decision was the referee not Nicki P and as for people booing him that is just childish. Almost everybody around me was booing him and to boo someone who comes off their bike and start laughing and jeering about it. That is not on. Weather you are a fan of his or not rider safety is paramount in the sport you only have to look at the likes of Garry Stead or Lawrence Hare or Ashley Jones. People need to grow up everyone is entiltled to an opinion but peoples reactions on Saturday night in that stadum were completley off the mark. richsimpson
Disagree that Nicki is a cheat, the calls went his way on the night but can't blame a guy for trying. To suggest he was aiming at the back wheels to fall of is just plain stupid. No rider wants to risk an injury which could so easily happen. Loved his cheeky smile and the pantomime villain routine. Thought he had lost that to Hans but he has got it back again. Well done for getting off the track so quickly in the final, at least he got on the rostrum. Bad luck to Scotty, so near yet so far. SPEEDY69
The referee was the villain of the piece last night, not Nicki Pedersen. IMHO he relishes in the "bad boy" image and good luck to him, it's not his fault that the officials were completely inept. Love him or hate him, he's still the best speedway rider in the world (well, since rabbit hung up her kevlars anyway). Haven'y the time to read throught the whole thread so not sure if anyone has already said this. I agree that it's the referee who decides upon exclusions but I do believe that NP knew full well that he was beaten to the first turn both by Adams and Bjarne and simply carried on coming across expecting contact, which there was, and falling fairly comfortably expecting a re-run. Although he probably expected an all four back decision I think he still deliberately initiated the contact to get a re-run and that is cheating in my book. However, he made the final and didn't lose as many points on JC as he might have so did the ends justify the means - quite possibly in NPs head but he is playing with fire here and could get seriously injured - even in a simple enough looking bail out. Paragon
I clearly heard Nikki in the post match interview say "I had to put the bike down on a couple of occasions". Read into that what you will.
johnno4
Anybody who has watched NP over the years knows that he has two plans when he arrives at the tapes. Plan A make the gate, blast away and win (Perfect)! Plan B if he misses the gate cause a first bend 'incident and get an all four restart so he gets another chance to gate. On Saturday he hit the back of Adams and Pederson on PURPOSE and conned the ref into making a stupid decision. I don't think he expected them to be excluded just to get a restart. In the previous GP he chopped right across Crumpy causing him to shut off on the first bend. I wonder who would have been excluded if Crumpy had kept going and crashed into him ? Last year in one of the GP's Pederson was up to his usual tricks and the SKY presenter asked Sam Ermolenko and Billy Hamill who were in the studio what they thought. Both said he's a dangerous rider. That was good enough for me coming from two former world champions.
wjm
It ain't cheating its just smart, every rider has put it down on the first bend , if you got pent up aggression folks take it out on the referee Nicki didn't do any thing wrong. johnno4
How do you know he did it on purpose? Have you asked him?? Thats the way he rides !!! The number of times he tried at the Abbey to put Leigh into the fence when outgated don't bear thinking about. He tried to come across Leigh and Bjane and failed so he went for an 'all four back' does all the time. Win at all costs, one day he will fall off and break his leg, serve him right if he does. richsimpson
one day he will fall off and break his leg, serve him right if he does. Bit of a stupid comment to make johnno4! I can't see any rider is dumb enough to fall off and hope for a rerun. A class racer like Nicki could pass if they missed the gate so why bother taking the risk of falling and getting excluded?? johnno4
A class racer like Nicki could pass if they missed the gate so why bother taking the risk of falling and getting excluded?? The chances of him passing Leigh Adams on Saturday were pretty remote and the way Bjane was riding not much better. His chance of making the semi were pretty slim so he took the risk.
