The rider named is the biggest cheat that i have known in speedway and i have not beeen a fan for a long time (say no more unlesd you want to).

I FEEL VERY STRONG ABOUT A RIDER WHO GETS 2 RIDERS ELIMINATED BY STAYING DOWN PRETENDING TO BE INJURED AND THEN GETTING UP AND FEELING FINE. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE WILL NOT LIKE THIS BUT I REALLY THINK IF THIS RIDER CARRIES ON DOING THESE SORT OF THINGS AND GETS AWAY WITH IT THEN I WILL START TO SAVE MY MONEY AND NOT BOTHER WITH GP's ALONG WITH OTHER PEOPLE AS THIS IS BLATENT CHEATING.

Chris Harris after smashing in to the fench heat 20 (near where we were 4 bend) top man for deciding to carry on racing and just shows what a twit and prat is mentioned above.

Apologies if the above offends people but there you go.

What utter tosh, the referee made those desicions(sp) not Nicki so how can you call him a cheat, The track was Ole Olsens fault again boring slick tracks never produce decent meetings, get a bit of dirt on these tracks, and on the man made ones more EFFORT then the Gp's will become a damn sight better!!!.

I doubt Nicki P really cares what people think. I suggest his broad grin entering the pits after strolling amid the cascade of boos and catcalls bears that out. His more immediate concern would be that, notwithstanding making the final, he looked pedestrian for much of the time in Cardiff, while Jason Crump finally looks to be back on the pace in the GPs.

Just watched Euro 2008 final and lost count the number of times I saw players appealing for corners and free kicks that they knew weren't theirs. Is that not cheating? but I bet they ain't getting slagged off on football forums

Yes, it is trying to cheat the officials into giving a wrong decision, but no, they won't get slagged off as cheating is endemic in football. Something we don't want to happen in speedway.

FFS this thread really is pathetic. Booing I can accept as a bit of harmless fun but cheering loudly when a rider has a heavy fall  There are many 'speedway fans' who should be ashamed of themselves after last night but I suspect they are still happy Nicki crashed out.

The referee was the villain of the piece last night, not Nicki Pedersen. IMHO he relishes in the "bad boy" image and good luck to him, it's not his fault that the officials were completely inept.

Love him or hate him, he's still the best speedway rider in the world (well, since rabbit hung up her kevlars anyway). B)

A thread congratulating Nicki on his fantastic sportsmanship in the Final would be far more appropriate.

If you go to the top of this General Discussions thread you will see a section for injured riders where all fans send their best wishes to injured riders

and i may have only been young but what bout people like Wayne Garret From newcastle in the early 90's i wuld say thy risk their life

have you ever been on a speedway bike

Ding, ding ding....arguement lost I'm afraid! Time and time again some fool comes up with the 'you can't critisise if you can't do it yourself' arguement. And time and time again they make themselves look stupid!

Let me ask you something...if you had the house rewired and the next time you turned the light on you got a massive electric shock....would you

a) Complain that the electrician didn't do his job properly and sue him

or

b ) Say 'Well I couldn't have done it myself so I won't complain'?

Seriously? The same applies to everything in life...Doctors who misdiagnose people, Police drivers who run down innocent pedestrians when chasing the 'bad guys', USAF fighter pilots who blow up soldiers from their own side...etc etc etc.

And Rabbit is spot on...if you seriously think speedway riders ride to entertain the fans as their first and formost reason then you are VERY naive! Entertaining people comes a very poor third to the thrill of racing and earning a living doing something that gives them that thrill!

These guys risk there life week in week out for you entertainment and you wish injury or in this case sounds like you wish more than the odd injury on him like to see you have the balls to go and get on a bike to give us some entertainment and risk your life look at what can happen to riders and think before you speak people like you make me sick

I totally agree with your sentiment as you were responding to a totally out of order quote which wished a speedway rider an injury... but.. lets be clear they do it for the same reason as most of us who work - to earn a crust. If its something they love then even better for them but adrenalin doesnt pay the bills.

The ref made some absolute shockers last night, not Nicki. Think some of the boos were acceptable in a sense but when he came off Nicki received some absolutely vile treatment from so called "fans", did we all have a good cheer when Bomber came off aswell? You wouldn't, if it was a Brit or rider you support it'd be totally different and before you ask I'm not a Nicki Pedersen fan at all. He's not a cheat, IMO, and the only person to blame for everything last night is that referee.

You can all say what you want as it's your opinion but riders like Nicki make speedway what it is and this season British Speedway misses him IMO!

"Should've gone to specsavers" sums up the refs evening,s work.

So its the refs fault that Maradona handled the ball is it.

Wonder if Nicki would own up to touching the ball in Golf or Snooker, some people will take any advantage given them given half a chance.

A future in the world of illusion beckons mr P, when he finally lays down his bike for the last time.

Spot on Lupus although I prefer the old forum classic "I don't need to work in Burger King to know when my Whopper tastes crap"!

Nicki has been a bad boy in the past but over the last two years he has, on the whole been pretty good. Last night was all down to the ref who yet again was shocking.

Oh and for the record, if you go on the football forums you will always here fans moaning about the players rolling around like a bunch of pussies. Its the worst thing in the game and players are always booed for it at matches!

I'm sure I remember Ivan Mauger once saying that he used to keep notes on different referees, on how they responded to different situations, who they excluded when there were incidents etc and play the refs.

I wonder if Nicki Pedersen does the same and knows that if he comes across early and gets hit then the other guy will get excluded by this guy? If so, then I say good on him.

As for booing. Of course people are going to boo him in that situation. It's part of the fun. Speedway needs someone to boo. In fact, we need more. Last year Swindon fans booed Rory Schlein after he came round after a race pointing to his name on the back of his kevlars. Quite right too. And good for him for doing it and getting the crowd annoyed.

Incidentally, did anyone actually take time to listen to what Nicki said in his interview at the end. He made a comment about if the temporary tracks don't improve then the riders might have to "stick together". That would be interesting.

Maybe he just got away with it because of the referees decision

I have no doubt Nicki knew exactly what he was doing, like all sportsman at the very top of their profession he is adept at putting the maximum pressure on the referee to get the decision he needs. Nicki always rides like this when he is in trouble, some times it comes off for him sometimes it doesn't. I don't blame Nicki he is just proving why he is the world number one; I do though think the authorities have got to have a look at the refereeing and consider whether this guy is given any more meetings of this stature.

Have to agree with Grachan regarding the 'bad boy' image, these things are great for speedway, the more intense the rivalry the better....as the old adage say.....'love him or hate him, you can't ignore him' & its these kinds of things that put bums on seats.
