Conkers
It won't affect me, as I will have enough to do, but I got this regarding the GP: 2008 FIM BRITISH SPEEDWAY GRAND PRIX at Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on 28/06/2008 WARNING! Only non-flammable air horns will be allowed inside Millennium Stadium. Flammable air horns will be confiscated by stewards at entry points to the stadium. Non-flammable air horns can be purchased from the official Millennium Stadium Merchandise outlets. So now you know!
p'boro lad
Has anyone else recieved this e-mail? seems to be another way of grabbing money for over priced merchandise as I've never know of this ban before: 2008 FIM BRITISH SPEEDWAY GRAND PRIX at Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on 28/06/2008 WARNING! Only non-flammable air horns will be allowed inside Millennium Stadium. Flammable air horns will be confiscated by stewards at entry points to the stadium. Gemini
Non-flammable air horns can be purchased from the official Millennium Stadium Merchandise outlets. Now there's a surprise. How can you tell the difference anyway whether the air horn is flammable or non-flammable? It looks like mine is made in Italy so I can't understand a word it says. I'm not really bothered though because I'm not taking it with me.

The highly flammabe sign on the side of the can tends to give it away Gem..
beesboybert
Aren't all of the gas ones flammable? I guess that means everyone will be having to use the ones you blow. Bad move in my eyes as the air horns make the atmosphere
Gemini
The highly flammabe sign on the side of the can tends to give it away Gem.. Oh yes. I've found a little flame sign on mine. Bah!! That will really spoil the atmosphere and as so many fans are either on their way or already in Cardiff they won't find out until they try to get in tomorrow. Spoil sports! I've never known air horns to be a problem - apart from when Adam Skornicki tried to set fire to his a few years ago. Vic Ridgeon
Oh yes. I've found a little flame sign on mine. Bah!! I've never known air horns to be a problem - apart from when Adam Skornicki tried to set fire to his a few years ago. Adam was clearly just trying to establish whether his air horn was flammable. If it bursts into flames, don't bring it into the stadium. Good man, good plan.
paulr
Just has a look at the ones in my backpack - 3 different makes/brands - all flammable. I wonder if this is a genuine safety concern or an excuse to make more money inside the stadium - cos whatever they sell wont be price competitive Are there any more restrictions we should be aware of ? - can we bring our own food & water ?? Vic Ridgeon
There's another thread about this p'boro lad but you make a fair point. Mind you, at least the beer and pizza aren't up to the Wembley prices!
pugwash
What a load of tosh. It's just a scam to rip off the punter. In Poland there's guys setting off full blown incendiary devices in the stadiums. Great fun, bit smokey though.
Jacques
Of course it's a revenue excercise, no doubt under the guise of of some Health and Safety issue.... If anybody went to Gelsekirchen last year , you will remember they did the same there and the atmosphere in the Stadium was.....AWFUL..the lack of atmosphere made us decide not to go back this year..So we will have to use those things that you blow in..... SCB
They always say they've banned airhorns, every year, we always have this discussion a day or two before Cardiff. They won't stop you taking them in.
Hazzman
an excuse to make more money inside the stadium - cos whatever they sell wont be price competitive Oldest trick in the book. Wembley used to do it with flags and polls but you bet your life on it, there will be no problem with air horns at Bydgoszcz. It was only yesterday that the Spaniard's at the footy game had a flare on them.
Concrete Cowboy
Aren't all of the gas ones flammable? Checked my half full cannisters, 2 inflammable and 2 non inflammable. Just got back from the local motor accessories shop and got 2 spanking new non inflammable ones for £8.99 each .
Trees
Told JB to source some of those blowable ones like they have at Glasgow!
Conkers
SCB Today, 03:55 PM They always say they've banned airhorns, every year, we always have this discussion a day or two before Cardiff. They won't stop you taking them in. I would assume that whilst they haven't banned air horns per se, they obviously want safe gasses within those horns. I would assume that should you try to take an air horn in, the stewards will look for the flammable symbol and confiscate those. Incidentally, the information came from the ticket agent where my son bought his tickets.
