sandman
there are few people in the world who could have given a more respectful endorsement to speedway than Webber did. i thought it was a fantastic boost for the sport. Plus, i knew there was a reason i liked Kubica besides his obvious talent driving a really good but third rate car. maybe with a bit of luck Webber can get away from red bull and hop in say a mclaren so he can really fly. anyway, you can probably thank John Postlewaite for that publicity due to his connections. made my day. i hope Chris wins in his home country again, and turns his season around. but then again, i like Gollub, Hancock, Crump, Adams and a few others as well but there ya go. manchesterpaul
One of the very first media write-ups after the meeting is provided via the link i gave earlier. It is from 'The Times' and nice to note that it marks speedway as a sport of the future. Hey!, maybe we will survive the petrol rises etc after all. shortoi
Of course I will be there. Never missed one yet and don't aim to. Turned down a £1400 booking to attend on Saturday. Alright for those who can afford to do that! Bloody hell, are you a private stripper or something?
Subedei
It's just such a shame that no one thought to invite the great Hunter S Thompson to cover the Grand Prix series while he was alive. I can just imagine Ole Olsen coming across as the epitomy of evil; a monster with a mind full of treachery and a heart full of hate.
mickthemuppet
It's a terrible shameore that Speedway and in particular the British Grand Prix gets so little publicity, in the media. There were probably more people at Cardiff yesterday that in any other Sport in Britain or even Europe . The stadium looked close to capacity which is four times as many people on Centre Court at Wimbledon watching Andy Murray. I would think the Cardiff attendence will be higher that the European Football final tonight. I wonder is there will be any report of the GP final in Monday's papers. I will be very suprised if there is.

Im not sure if there was a great price differential between similar positions on the back & home straights - but I found it interesting that the back straight was so full as ive never seen it as the most popular positions at EL or Pl meetings that Ive attended A Polish member has posted some great photos today on one of the British GP threads on this forum and you can dissapointingly see huge area of empty seats - then again another 25,000 people blowing air horns and there would have to be a search party for the stadium roof !! KrisB
Seating along the back straight is indeed cheaper, and you'll notice Sky makes full use of those packed areas to give the appearance that the stadium is very full. Been the same every year.
manchesterpaul
Touching on a couple of points above. If you utilize the Google search link i gave above. I think by Tuesday morning most of the dailies will have articles and reports contained within it. On a positive note, in previous years the Sunday papers barely mentioned the event. However, i see the Times and Mail have already got favourable reports contained within the link. From the Mail (i must add a massive disclaimer - NO i do not read the Daily Mail lol - i have only read the link to the speedway) The Millennium Stadium may have lost the FA Cup Final, but in the British Speedway Grand Prix it retains a jewel of the sporting calendar. A hidden one, perhaps; a private party for 45,000 speedway devotees. But for raw drama, danger and dastardly deeds of a Polish referee, few events can match the intoxicating combination that Cardiff and shale offered on Saturday night. I'm a bit puzzled by references to a smaller crowd. As several sources are referring to 45,000.

There was an on line report at Express report which was pretty good, but the report in today's edition of the paper (Monday) was very very good for a National, including 2 pictures in its virtual 1/2 page coverage. Its good to note as well that the photo's in the paper were not mikepatrick.com which suggests that they had one of their staff photographers their which in my opinion is pretty impressive - The 2 pictures being one of JC with the trophy, and a racing shot
