Vic Ridgeon
Hello A friend of mine who takes a passing interest in speedway recalls a chant (at Cradley) aimed at Ole Olsen which went as follows:- "Ole, Ole, Ole Pig, Pig Pig" Can anyone shed any light on the origin and reasons for this delightful song? Lefty
Maybe! 'Ole Ole Ole' was most definately the terrace chant in the early 70's (and P** P** P** also the Cradley reply!) This carried on for a few years until Mr. Olsen followed the money tree to Brandon. Although he did win a World Final in Wolves colours in 1975 - but the move to Coventry was sealed well beforehand and his subsequent loss of respect on the Monmore terraces confirmed. Another aspect of Wolves-Spoons rivalry was seeing the paint spray can displays of "OLE POWER" being converted to "COLE POWER". This was quite good humour and I'm sure Howard Cole must have enjoyed seeing the walls of Wolverhampton & Dudley sprayed with this.
