speedy den boy
After watching the grand prix in denmark is there anyone at the track who carries out bike checks as nikki wnt into the pits yet again with no cut out on his wrist and also Iversons pit team changed his rear tyre on the track and just chucked the dirt deflecter back on without anyone checking.i know these are small things but rules are rules and someone should be in that area to check these things. themilkman23
What exactly would you have liked them to check on the dirt deflector? After all, if it was at the right height at the start of the meeting, it would still be after changing the tyre over - They didn't remove the rubber band off it. Greg
I think engine check are a good idea but they would have to make extra time for it.
Najjer
as nikki wnt into the pits yet again with no cut out on his wrist And? Most riders do after the race when they remove the cut out on the 'slow down lap' or whilst returning to the pits directly.

Completely illegal, if the ref sees it they get maximum fine.

Everyone seems to do it. How else did Gollob get both his arms up in the air last night? Yes.. he removed the cut out cord.

If you are correct, then there must be a lot of blind referees or Nicki must pay an awful lot of "maximum" fines. He almost always removes his cut-out on the way back to the pits. I know its a million chance that it happens but nikki could loose control of the bike when going back to the pits, then what will people say.The pits in denmark were miles away from the track so there is more chance it could happen. Not always easy for referees to see and most probably not bothered but if they wanted to be picky then could fine, whenever on a bike must always have cut out on wrist, same applies to mechanics etc when warming them up. Rule 10.46.4 in the rulebook.
suzuki star 882
I am not convinced that cutouts make any real difference. On numerous occasions I have seen cutouts trip the switch on the handle bar when riders have fallen but the engine has kept running. Are these new "positive" type cutouts designed to combat this, and are they any better than the old type ?

In a more polite way of saying it the FIM has issued a statement in which the new cutout rule for this season has been put on hold and any cutout accepted in -07 or for -08 is now approved. Read somewhere Andy Smith saying the new cut outs were fine if they are dry but if you get water in them they cause problems, seeing as bike gets wet regulary you would have thought they would have made them waterproof! It was the new cut out that was to be compulsory in FIM events then the FIM realised it was crap.
