Stoke 3 Team Junior Match ?

Recommended Posts

Glad someone has posted because it is listed in our meetings to be covered on updates but I couldn't find any info either and wasn't sure if it was actually speedway or something else.

Now someone has I can ask my usual question....is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the updates site. If so, could you please either leave a message here or send me an email or pm.

Thanks

SPEEDWAY

BY NEIL EVANS

09:40 - 30 May 2008

Stoke stage an Under-16 'Stars of Tomorrow' three-team tournament at Loomer Road tomorrow.

The Easy Rider Potters are not in action until Monday, when they travel to Reading. They go even further afield with a meeting at the Isle of Wight on Tuesday.

So the youngsters will take centre stage this weekend.

"This is an opportunity for our supporters to come along and have a look at these young riders, who are all hoping to make it in speedway," said co-promoter Dave Tattum.

"The likes of Joe Haines, who was very impressive here at the weekend with Workington, and Josh Auty, who is with Scunthorpe, both came through this route and some of the riders we have here this weekend might end up just as good.

"As an added interest, Montana Jewett is a 15-year-old girl who looks quite good on a bike by all accounts. Other females have tried to get a foothold in the sport and it will be interesting to see how she does.

"Another of the riders is 14-year-old Jake Knight, the son of former Mildenhall rider Richard.

"All the riders are aged 15 and under and I think they will enjoy this track and show exactly what they are capable of."

Stoke have announced reduced admission prices for the tournament.

They are £10 for adults, £7 concessions and £2 juniors, to include a racecard where applicable.

Great night's action. Pity that Monty took a tumble in the final race but she is okay by the look of it. Some good young talent coming through the ranks at this level and hopefully some other track may be able to run similar meetings for the ladsand lasses .

Home Counties 26 (Michael Bovis R/R; Joe Newey 3; Joe Jacobs 11+1, Jake Knight 11, Sam Woods 1+1)

North 33 ( Dale Lamb 3+2, Jason Garrity 8+2, Jack Hirst 4+1, James Sargeant 14, Montana Jowett 4+1)

Midlands + West 30 (Ashley Morris 4+1, Claire Frays 2, Dan Greenwood 13, Scott Meakins 10, Jack Butler 1+1)

Top scorers race (a cracker to end the night with a close finish) : Greenwood, Sargeant, Meakins, Knight.

Well done to all the lads and the two ladies!!

Really enjoyed the event, great committment from all the young riders with some suprisingly quick race times down in the 65 seconds range.

Big Thanks To Dave Tatum for putting the metting on, I think all the riders there enjoyed it. And the track was great, for us. Hope there will be more meetings like this throughout the season.

Thanks.

Dan.

Jack and I would like to thank Dave Tatum for putting this meeting on, a good night for all involved. But what a shame there was no representation from the British Youth Development Team I would have thought it was a great opportunity for them to see the lads in action.
