iceandspeedway
No, I don't want to see someone seriously injured. But crashes are part of the game and they spice up the product. Tonight it was very exciting watching this GP. You never knew what would happen next. I can't say that this was always the case with GPs when the tracks were oh so very smooth. Some of them were simply boring. And don't forget that not all of the crashes tonight were caused by the track conditions. Andersen's was, and Gollob's too. But Jonsson's not, and Nicholls' not, and those two by that crash pilot Dryml not necessarily. Dryml is a danger in itself. My opinion. What total garbage, top quality riders struggled throughout the meeting with the track which resembled mine field, some looked less at ease than others, Adams rode steadily but as safely as he could, was a total farce racing wise and is it not time for man made tracks to exit the Grand prix circus oops sorry Circuit. as regards part and parcil of the sport crashes occur but gothenborg had riders bring the wrong bikes!!!!!!! should have ridden moto x bikes as no way was that speedway. Had been considering taking in a couple of rounds this year but no way until they get rid of man made tracks.
Seb the Snail
Blimey! What a feat of endurance that was for the "New Inn" faithful. At one point we were counting our blessings that it was a Bank Holiday weekend, as the meeting just went on forever. I've never heard a slow hand clap during a GP before! As for the topics of debate: Track - total disgrace. I'm firmly with the "Olsen Out" camp. If we get 2 decent tracks in the whole series we'll be lucky. The Brits - way off the pace yet again. Bomber's gating looks more exposed at this level with every meeting. The Winner - a big well done to Rune. I like him, but don't know how he used a 750 in the final without anyone noticing. The Runner Up - crying shame that he missed out on the one chequered flag that really counted, but now looks a good bet for a Top 8 finish which will be a great effort in his debut series. The Clean One - just like Thursday there was something missing from Leigh's armoury last night. He looks booked for 3rd or 4th overall yet again in my view. How he messed up the semi after such a sublime gate is beyond me. Andreas - really hope he's ok; and how absurd that we had no one in yellow in the first semi. Nicki - I was shouted down on here for saying that we may as well hand him the title after the opening round in Slovenia. I've seen nothing since to make me change my mind. Gollob - I didn't think it was a dangerous move; just a racing incident. Who was the GP winner? - another all time low from the Sky Team. Guest chris26
No, it'd be like A1 - very boring. you obviously haven't watched it since the beginning with a quote like that. best thing to have happened for years - and at least there is overtaking (more than can be said for F1!) salty
Can't believe people are questioning Rune's machinary. He was quick all night (and has been a top rider for several years) and in the Final he took advantage round the outside whilst the other 3 kept to the wet inside. Don't remember anybody questioning Harris bikes after Cardiff last year. Edited May 25, 2008 by salty
sancho
If you get rid of all the "man made tracks", there won't be any tracks at all! So what do you think the British, Polish, Swedish leagues use week in week out
bigcatdiary
Contrary to what most of You wrote, I think it was a great GP. Very entertaining, with lots of incidents (and accidents, non too seriously). Ullevi is a wonderful stadium and Göteborg a beautiful and traditional place for a speedway GP. Forget those little racetrack out in the woods. This was a very entertaining GP, it did not feel like 4 hours. Idiot

salty
Will be interesting to see if and what is reported in the Speedway Star about last nights track. The fiasco about the abandoned GP in Sweden was blamed on the locals and given the links between the Star and the Gp organisers it wouldn't surprise me if a similar scenario unfolds. There was mention in the match report from Leszno about how hard and dry the track was, but no editorial comment. In fact Leigh Adams commented how many racing lines there were. With 2 more temporary tracks coming up I hope we never see a repeat of that disgraceful surface last night.

sancho
Should practice sessions be stopped after all riders dont get to practice at league meetings and seem to do ok. And most interviewed yesterday said the track was ok in practice Edited May 25, 2008 by sancho

And most interviewed yesterday said the track was ok in practice That is very relevant. The same was said by the riders about Gelsenkirchen at practice and then on the day the track was terrible. godmother
Well done to Rune. The other three were all worried about each other and let Rune have the run on the outside. As for Rune being way ahead of the others and people questioning his speed, nobody did that when Rickardsson was a quarter of a lap ahead every race ! sancho
I have never attendeed a practice session so dont know what goes on but seems a little pointless if the track is going to be totally different on race night Congrats to Rune good to see new face on top of podium Edited May 25, 2008 by sancho
Sir Jasper
I for one quite enjoyed the gp, yes the track was a little dodgy but it all added to the evening. AJ v Gollob, A racing incident gone wrong, Gollob really didnt give AJ anywhere to go and I was very surprised that Steele excluded Gollob. Lindgren caused me a lot of discomfort throughout the meeting as he piled on the points. All thorughout the week I had been banging on how he was my each way bet for the night, I then decided against having a bet!! Harris is looking totally different to the rider that started the series last year, his gating has gotten worse from the tail end of the last year, and his bikes do not seem Jet Propelled like last year, perhaps this is down to his confidence levels but will struggle to get anywhere near the top eight. Nicholls has gone backwards after Cardiff he was much improved last year, yes his gating does let him down however its not so much that its the fact he has no plan for the first bend, he often gets to the bend level but gets shoved out, last year he ride first corners alot better and it improved his results, IMO the sooner he comes back to Brandon the better for him as I think he is better rider when riding and captaining the bees. I expect him to score more than Harris throughout the season but again I think will struggle for a top 8 place leaving the organisers in an uncomfortable position with regards to a wild card. Hans Andersen looked racy and took a nasty spill no matter what injuries he has ended up with it could have been a hell of a lot worse. Congratulations to Holta he flew when it mattered and Nicki P without really doing much still scored some decent points and to be honest I dont think he has a clear rival for the big prize as all the others will continue to take points away from each other.
