superguest
Any pictures from the round in Pori? Have to say, it looked a lot harder than the round in Germany.
iris123
yeah indeed it does Chris I wonder the kind of support they received from the GB federation compared to the support given to the other lads from their federations. Thx for the report Iris..... it is great to hear about yet another exciting Russian..... it wont be long until these guys are getting in the SWC final........ its a shame for Andrew and Ben but they are both going places all the same It is a shame about the support.Peter Oakes i thought was going in the right direction by bringing a few youngsters over to Germany last year. But the Aussies don't seem to get any support either. In fact someone contacted me asking for details on behalf of Ksiezak, because they got no info from Australia. But the Aussies do seem to prosper despite that. But the trouble with continental experience is that how do most get it?The youngsters are so often needed at home at the weekend and if they missed a meeting you normally get all the moaners going on how they are missing a club meeting to ride in some tin-pot competition If you're lucky Kononov will be drawn at Rye The Russians certainly are coming Edited June 2, 2008 by iris123

The young Aussies were also assisted by the GB management (regarding the various rules and regs) and the local Gustrow club. Some of you may have noticed in Iris' pictures that Robert and Troy are wearing Gustrow race jackets (to display their rider numbers), which had to be borrowed for the meeting, otherwise they wouldn't have been allowed to ride! Robert just needs to learn that some foreigners can understand english. When i got there i asked a friend of mine who was looking after the pits area how practice went.He told me there was a bit of trouble with riders trying to use two bikes.Which he told me wasn't allowed by the FIM! Apparently Robert was heard to say ####### Germans!

f-s-p
Alltough I have a very good idea what Stekkers thought about track prep at Pori, could someone please translate this to me From the DMU website "Til træningen havde det vist sig at banen var helt perfekt til speedway, og passede godt til de Danske og Svenske kørere, med en god mængde dirt på banen, samt flere linjer.

The practice showed a track perfect to speedway and well suited for the Danish and Swedish riders with plenty of dirt and several lines. The riders were all feeling comfortable. Some of theteams had spent the night on the track and could verify that they had started to "pack" (I was to lazy to go and find my dictionary for the right word for "tromle") the track at 4 o'clock in the morning. And as this should not be enough they watered it after a few heats and became slick as on "brown soap".
