superguest
Would this be the same Forsberg who has been 5-1ed twice tonight by the Messings on his home track in Sweden? Maybe he rides the smaller tracks better, he'd definetly better than the Messings over here. Just think Peter Ljung is a pretty poor choice with so many good junior riders...THJ, Kling and Forseberg (usually)
orion
Ljung is much better than these riders thou .......i thought the plan was to pick your best team and Ljung is in great form in poland and sweden . Your makeing the same mistake most uk fans do baseing your views on what they have done in the uk in the past rather than looking at the big picture . Subedei
The Vastervik track can't be that big. The track record is only 55.2 seconds.
Ghostwalker
Sweden look like they have pick the right side by leaveing pk out let again another meeting for him tonight in his homeland . Peter K himslef decided after last years WC to reject a nomination if he got one. But he will remain as reserve incase some gets injured or if AJ has to leave if the birth of his and his GFs baby will take place during the WC week. schumi
Vastervik track is 296 metres and is the second smallest track in Elitserien, the smallest being at Rospiggarna (289 metres) and the largest being Gubbangen (387 metres.)
spook
the simple fact of the matter here for me is that I look at the GB team for Cov and then I look at the Danish team and the reality is clear............. the only chance we have of winning in Vojens is if we have the time to get dialled in with the race off................. that would mean no embarresments like last year in the final and it would mean a slim chance of success..... as per the TRick-less swedes a few years ago There is no point in simply making sure that the team get to the final with riders that wont be used again............. it is time that people start looking further than day to day and look towards the future............. the plan until we have at least 4 GP standard riders should be to go to the race off...... and give ourselves a chance with this 'genius' ( ) plan in place here we will have 2 guys who wont be used later aiming to get the team straight into the final.... where we then throw the two youngsters into the cauldron............ bananas!..... completely topsy turvy........................... the only nice thing I can say is that at least Jim Lynch has highlighted the main two hopes for the future and will be giving them experience.................... just what that experience will be is a different matter.... lets hope it wont be like last year! Danish Dave
Should be a very close meeting I think. For Great Britain, Nicholls and Harris will go very well and will score lots of points. Simon Stead really has not come on as much as I expected him to, I personally would of gone with Woffinden instead of him. Oliver Allen could be a trump card, he should beat most of the Czechs and the lesser riders of Sweden and Denmark at his home track. The key man could be Richardson though, I don't know if he goes well at Coventry or not but on his day he can beat anyone. Not on his day, he can lose to anyone! The Swedes are going through a transition period just now. It cannot be an easy task to replace Max, Karlsson and Rickardsson but there doing pretty well. Jonsson will score plenty points but the pressure will be on Lindgren to provide the main back up for him. We will see if he stands up to this. The Czechs could provide the "annoyance" factor. Realisticly, they are not going to go through but I expect them to score a few points, just messing up the other teams chances. For Denmark, I am pretty optimistic. With 4 grand prix riders we will be the favourites. Nicki, Hans and Bjarne will all score big points and they will be very well backed up by Kenneth and Niels. I cannot see any weaknesses in the Danish side and in every race they should be scorng points. Prediction: Denmark Great Britain Sweden Czech Republic
schumi
Ken Bjerre is still not riding in Denmark - I'd be inclined to put Gjedde in instead of him. GB? Not holding my breath.
Mark
I hope Stead does well but he's not my pick. I'd have gone with Kennett or Tia at Coventry. Probably the latter would be my pick if he's going to try him in Vojens. It gives him a chance to find his feet agaianst Nikki & Hans when they are at full power. Stead is lucky this round is at Coventry, he'd have no chance of a place otherwise. Olly Allen will be a trump card, he's going to do very well. Hazzman
The Vastervik track can't be that big. The track record is only 55.2 seconds. It's small and very awkward shape when I watched a meeting online on there. Very surprised it's Gollob's home.

skid row
Are tickets available to buy on the day at Coventry?
Gemini
Yes, but you might not be able to get in the grandstand if it's already full with fans who have already purchased tickets. If you're thinking of standing on the terraces you'll be okay as there is plenty of room at Brandon. More information here that you might want to read. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=42739 Edited July 3, 2008 by Gemini

mikec
So much for the masterplan of tracking Cov track experts a week on Monday - they're all either injured or out of form. Screen, Smith & Havvy on standby maybe?

flagrag
Well it looks like Sky have changed their mind about broadcasting the Coventry WTC round in HD, it was announced after the brilliant British GP in HD that they would do this as well. But I have noticed that since then they have said nothing more about it and it is also not flagged as being in HD on the tv guide. I find this very disapointing after it was announced and for such a major event this should be in HD also the lighting is more than good enough at Brandon so technically no reason why it could not be done
