hatcham
indeed, woeful from team coventry mk2 (sorry, team gb) and yes, Stead is the most over-rated rider in the last 5 year period or so). - glad someone shares my sentiments i feel a bit sorry for steady,he has been vastly over rated by the likes of pearson, but i cant remember ever hearing him 'big himself up' he is a decent premier league number 1,or an elite second string, the sorry state of british speedway sees him among our nations top 8 riders, and that sees him selected in the gb team. its not his fault he is no nicki pedersen or jason crump. i'm sure the lad does his best, but his best will never be good enough at the top but give him a break

hatcham
Here you go: http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/news/a7093?...db6728363ea5e65 fair point, but i have no doubt even bridger thinks he'll make the gp's.
Saint Rob
about as proud as the poole fans on saturday watching watt,or tonight not watching erikkson and davidsson(d) who wern't even good enough to be selected We at Poole know that Eriksson and Danny boy aren't good enough for their national teams and as for Watt, was he riding at Poole on Saturday??? Erm.... nope. The Coventry fans have just seen Allen & Stead bottle it in 1 of the biggest international fixtures of the season on a track that they ride every week

LisaColette
it was unfair on simon to put him in the team anyway. he's been struggling all year. its probably his worst season in the elite league and yet he's picked for the world cup, doesn't make sense even if it is at coventry. Saint Rob
the point is rob they did not bottle it,they are just not good enough If they ain't good enough, why the hell where they selected in the 1st place????

Erm.... nope. The Coventry fans have just seen Allen & Stead bottle it in 1 of the biggest international fixtures of the season on a track that they ride every week I thought Allen rode well for his points given the standard of the opposition (sits back and waits for the flak). Subedei
I thought Allen rode well for his points given the standard of the opposition (sits back and waits for the flak). He was the pick of the British riders.
LisaColette
I thought Allen rode well for his points given the standard of the opposition (sits back and waits for the flak). you're right. if the other riders scored the points they should have. then i'm sure olly wouldn't be getting critised. ballinger
Stead could have had a half a lap headstart and would still struggle Agreed Steady looked woeful tonight, it would have been better if one of Poole's British riders had taken his place
hatcham
If they ain't good enough, why the hell where they selected in the 1st place???? if you were the fastest 100 metre runner in britain rob,you would be off to peking to represent us,but if your personal best was 15 seconds, you would come last. you would not bottle it,just not be good enough. why were they selected, who knows? i am not the manager, but whoever was selected we would not have beaten the danes or swedes
Saint Rob
why were they selected, who knows? i am not the manager, but whoever was selected we would not have beaten the danes or swedes Disagree. Kennett & Woffinden have the beating of Nermark, Ljung and possibly even Davidsson

stevebrum
dreadful showing. Despite a tail end fight back that meant naff all. Nicholls - no excuses. a poor nite - yet again on the big stage. Harris - battled in a coupla heats but looked anything but a home rider. Richardson - why oh why are we persisting??? His best days are well behind him internationally. Stead - out of form, can turn it on at Cov. Surely cannot be considered in the reckoning from now on as clearly not up to the level required. A great pity as i like Simon. Allen - cant understand why he was ever picked. Rides Cov well but is a 2nd string at best. rjm67
It wasn't a pleasant experience to be there tonight. I'm a recent convert to the sport (the wife to be is a big fan), so I can't overly judge what the root cause is, but I don't think we do enough on mental preparation for one. Apart from the odd moment, none of them appeared to ride as though they really wanted it. I read some comment that the track wasn't prepared how the brits like it, but you have to learn how to perform on every type of track if you want to be a winner. As much as I can't stand Pederson for his gamesmanship (The British GP was a prime example to me) he thinks like a winner, and rides like a winner. When he's out in front you don't feel as though he's defending the position, he's owning the track, and yet the brits never look entirely comfortable in front. I don't know where we go from here, but I will shout at the TV on Thursday to try and motivate them on via 'tele'pathy.
stevebrum
I would still replace Nicholls. Give Danny King a chance. See if he rides with a bit more passion than Nicholls when representing his country. All the best Rob i agree. If the so called dead certs like nicholls and Richardson dont deliver then i cant see any harm in giving the likes of bridger, king a chance to earn experience . people will support effort. THAT was a disgrace tonight. I thought Allen rode well for his points given the standard of the opposition (sits back and waits for the flak). Fair point. But hardly good enough im afraid.
