shazzybird
Today at work one of the fellas was going on about a speedway rider possibly from 1958(ish) rode Harringey or possibly Wembley by the name of "MICHAEL ALLEN" can anyone shed any light on the rider please. star ghost
Can't recall the name. I think Harringay and Wembley were out of Speedway around that time

chunky
Cheers both of you, HG does that include 2nd halvers? everything? don't want him coming back saying oh he was only a second halver (although I did ask) Â Mind you I know it's a long shot but what Allens do you have on your list anythin remotely close in the 50's? Â Didn't ring any bells here either, and the name (or anything similar) didn't appear in Peter Morrish's book anywhere from 1946 to 1964. All I can think of is that he MAY have been a novice/second-halfer. I will tell you, I'm always a little suspicious when people start telling me things, when it is clear that names/tracks/dates/events don't even begin to tally ie Harringay and Wembley in 1958! Hellsgranny
Hi Shazzy  My database includes all second-halfers that I have come across, but the list is still growing. I'll get back to you on riders named Allen around that time.
Hellsgranny
The only rider I have found anywhere near that time is Terry Allen who rode for Norwich in1955.
norbold
Never heard of him, Shazz. Harringay closed in 1954 and Wembley in 1956.
star ghost
I agree with Hellsgranny on this Terry Allen was one of the Norwich Juniors who rode in the Challenge matches they staged against Southern Area League teams of the time. I think he also rode at Yarmouth in second half racing

shazzybird
Ok thanks will go and catch up with the fella tomorrow and see what else he can come up with, said it's a relative of his, funny really as worked with him for quite a while yet he's never mentioned it before and he knows I go to speedway and that my family are regulars as well, so I wonder why he never mentioned it before
