Andersen's a live threat for sure, though he's more likely on for bronze or 4th spot I'd guess. Wouldn't be writing Crumpy off just yet either, he ground out a result tonight when off the pace by his high standards.

Congrats to Gollob, I think he'll win in Leszno too - then fall back into the pack as Cardiff & Copenhagen arrive. Nicki's a class act but I see a closer series taking shape this time. After some pretty tough injuries it was good to see Lukas Dryml back to some kinda form on the big stage as well.

Bold prediction Mike. I'd certainly fancy Leigh Adams to do well at Leszno.

I'll agree with that. really pleased for the guy, and hope he can build on it for the rest of the season. loved his attitude when interviewd too. :approve:

As for Bjarne, a bad night but then he'll have some decent ones too. He'll never be a world champion but always one of the guys on the fringes - lacks the killer instinct of an Andersen, Crump or Pedersen. Still, long as he scores well for Poole, I'm not too bothered what he does elsewhere to be honest.

Bold, you're probably right. Adams has been there 12/13 years is it? Probably one of his worst meets there was the World Cup Final, wouldn't rule him out though. The Poles will have a few days practice round there no doubt, but it's a fair track that most of the top boys know well. If Shov's pick Nicki P excels there then fair play, can't see that happening though.

Not worried about Crumpy too much tonight, seemed more of a lack of pace than anything else. All the effort was there, just wasn't on the pace with tonights big hitters. Didn't seem to be throwing stuff round his pit lane either, a sign it was nothing major - no panic yet.

I kinda agree with SS that N Pedersen is the man to beat, but only a fool would discount any of the other big hitters after only 1 round.

Jason and Leigh both had rounds they would prefer to forget, but to make the semi's on a bad night is not to bad.

I'd tend to agree that Nicki is a hot favourite. He's the best gater, is also the most aggressive on the first turn and furthermore I think he simply "wants it" more than most of his rivals. Was pleased with the weekend's result though. From a neutral's point of view, it would've been bad news if Nicki had stormed away with it...as it is, Crump, Andersen, Jonsson are still very much in touch.

Having seen the first GP of the year, I have to agree that Nicki P looks good for the title again this year. Crumpy, although not at his best, did well to do aswell as he did considering his first few rides. Hans, Tomasz and Andreas looked the best challengers but are likely to have too many bad rounds as the season progresses. I expect Leigh and Scott to be back in the hunt for a rostrum place within a couple of rounds aswell.

Nah. Not consistent enough.

Will misss out on final when Pedersen is guarenteed to be there. Expect his reign to last in 2009 as well.

He is just head and shoulders above the rest. And no I am not a fan of his!

I know there are a number of competitors who are there merely to make up the numbers, Steve. However, I think it unwise to predict so positively who will be the 2008 World Champion when motors have barely cooled down after the first Grand Prix contest of the season.

It looks to me like the fire in the belly of Crump has been extinguished - over a year since he tasted victory in a Grand Prix.

Yep, I would agree with that. When travelling to GPs he always has the full Crump posse with him and I think that is where his obvious priorities are now. Nothing wrong with that of course... But in terms of being the world's top rider, IMO he was much more effective as the hot-headed hungry racer than as the contented family man we see today.

As I said. Crump is yesterdays man. Nicki Pedersen only came second tonight but thats enough compared to the rest. Gollob isn't consistent enough. Crump was pretty rubbish, as was Adams, the other so called challenger.

He has one bad GP and you've written Crumpy off? Those are the sort of words that come back to haunt you... Seem to recall some people saying that after he won his first world title and had a bad year after that. Crump certainly ain't finished yet, and this year's GP definitely isn't over yet.

No, he's had lots of bad GPs - Crump hasn't won a GP since July 2006 and for a rider of Crump's stature, that's poor.

I'm not writing Crump off, but he won't be champion unless he gets his backside into gear.

I don't think it is any thing to do with passion or desire, Crump just looks very slow, cant seem to hit the set up on the head in the GP any more, wonder if a change of tuner is needed, as one or two seem to have allot more power under than him these days.

I really hope that this years is Crumpy's year.

He has looked extremely quick for Belle Vue, and if he keeps Injury free, there is no reason why he can't win the title this year! :approve:

There is one reason.Nicki Pedersen
