Blazeaway
Just got in from what was an excellent nights racing, no fannying about just young enthuastic lads going hell for leather. Before the meeting even started I said if Bridger doesn't make the gate in the final he will crash, he really needs to start thinking about his racing more. Tai was superb all night he would have passed Lewis in heat 19 if he had needed to I'm sure. Roynon was all over Tai in the final but couldn't quite get past. Stevie B was obviously still feeling the effects of his injury but rode very well in his first meeting for a month. Auty was very disappointing expected much more from him. Already been said but special mentions to Joe Haines and Jack Roberts, these two boys are gonna be very very good riders. All in al a great nights entertainment on a very well prepared circuit. marron
Auty was very disappointing expected much more from him. To be honest, i don't think any Bears fan was expecting too much tonight. He has had bad problems with his machinery and his confidence has been low all the way through the season.
21st century heathen
*looks smug* Didn't have a single penny on it though. I'm going for Crump tomorrow. Let's see how that works out. Congrats to the top three tonight.
Searley
Well done tai the first man from oz to win the british under 21 Hes from England lol Fantastic nights racing, Woffinden deserved it. Roynon all over him in final but as Blazeaway said he couldnt quite find a way passed. Roynon was superb, some amazing passes and fully deserved 2nd. Jack Roberts I thought was fantastic, always trying and scored good points. Definately a rider for the future!
speedy den boy
well i must have gone to a diff meeting, the track was super slick and rubbish and the racing a bore with the out and and out racers having no chance.bridger and smart to name but two had no chance because the inside was the only line.ive never seen the lakeside track like this for a long time and i go almost every week.it was smooth alright but it was in a complete state for 22 heats of speedway. Midnight_Lady
fair enough. surely he's entitled to his opinion though, even if you, i or anyone else disagree? I at no time said he wasn't oops nearly forgot .... Congratulations to Tai Woffinden. Edited April 26, 2008 by Midnight_Lady
Chris
Must have been at a different meeting as the racing was dire. Two/three GENUINE passes all night. You can't knock Cook/Douglas for what they have done at Lakeside, but the track shape is not conducive for good racing. Its prepared excellently and is smooth as a fresh brazilian, but the shape is the problem. Anyway, Bridger couldn't handle the pressure as usual. Brainless riding in the final. Trapped on Tai off two, but instead of clamping down on Tai and ending his race he chooses to go for the dirt, which was miles away by then, off bend two. Leaves huge hole, which Tai gobbles up and then Bridger turns it round going in too fast into turn three. Brainless. The difference between making it to the top and not is in the head and I'm not sure Bridger has alot upstairs. Look at some of the first corners by Woffinden and Roynon and you can see them using their brains to weigh the situation up. Tai a class apart as predicted. He has stated he will be representing England in his career so lets stop complaining he is an aussie winning our championship. If he would have kept silent over the matter then he should have been told where to go, but he has chosen us and we will reap the rewards from it. Celebrate having the lad riding for his country of birth. Roynon next best on show and if he can learn to gate could go on to be as good as Tai. Don't think we have much to worry about in the future as these two will be right up there challenging. Its an outrage Len Silver let the lad ride for another PL club. Barker was steady and has improved nicely as he has realised you can't get by on crap, cheap equipment. Lawson steady, but didn't show why the sweaties are salivating over him. Lets see him down south against some decent oppo first before coming out with some of the over the top comments I've seen from jockland this season. No machineary problems though. Boxall clearly not fit. Didn't look comfortable on the bike at all and was pulling some funny shapes. Very hesitant in the first corner. Didn't look like he could hold the bike tight either due to his shoulder and that isn't going to help at a track like Lakeside. Best of the rest was Haines and Roberts who looked very good for ones so inexperienced. Some good enthusiasm shown by the youngsters, who all gave 100%, but a shame it was staged at a track that is so limited on racing lines for them to use. Maybe it should have been at Rye? a good decent size track with decent racing for all four laps and some dirt on it too? Aye right!! And btw, is it ok to be racist in your remarks about Scotland on this forum?
speedy den boy
chris the thing is its normally very good with plenty of dirt on but in their wisdom riders were invited for practice in the afternoon before the main event.i just think if thats what future stars ride on every week speedway is going to the dogs.you cant prepare atrack like that for up and coming stars to race on.super slick is not right. HBKPCNBob
Jack Roberts I thought was fantastic, always trying and scored good points. Definately a rider for the future! Yes I agree, at only 17 yrs old, im sure he'll be making the step up to PL reserve next season for sure if tonights score and performance is anything to go by. IMO as with the qualifiers, I felt only Bridger had the chance to beat Tai in the final but it seems he didnt gate and blew his chance by crashing out (missed both Semi and Final, due to having to catch train to make sure I got home tonight, so only going by the updates). For the 20 heats I saw tonight, very good racing imo, in the first couple of heats some had to get use to the track but once they sussed it, most had it wound on round there. T.N.T.
