John Hannibal Thomas
and whys that then?? just cos he had a bad night, last night. no because ever since he left our racers track hes turned into a complete gating tart who gets overtaken possibly more than any other rider with an average above 2.00 in the EL! Mateusz
As for Gollob - yes, he was lucky about this gate one but he simply did what he had to do. Made no mistake and won 4 times in a row from this gate. A combination of a bit of luck and good reflex/skills gave him this victory. I don't see any point in discrediting his success. You always need some luck to win in such a competitive tournament like SGP. Also, in the semifinal and the final he could run from the gate one because of, respectively, his score and winning the semi so it was not about the luck in these two final heats. It usually used to be like Gollob to be unlucky. This time it was slightly different. And long may it continue! Roll on Leszno !! Rob B
Got back last night from Slovenia, when we first got to the track there was loads of dirt on it and it looked really deep, I thought great should be in for some good racing tonight, then about 15 minutes before the start tractors came out and scraped it off. Night was all about gates 1 & 2 you could forget 3 & 4 and after the rain that got even worst. Crump was unlucky to have two gate 4's in the qualifying and only ended up with one point less then Pedersen and Gollob etc but had to go off gate 3 and had no chance, if he had got gate 1 or in fact if probably anyone had got gate 1 they would have won it. Nicki will be more consistent over the series so second place wouldn't kill him but a Gollob win at Leszno would be quite special.

Dave67
the golem Olsen tells them to ride and they ride. In fact, The Golem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How dare you insult the living deity that is our lord The big O May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your backside If Speedway had more people like Lord Olsen involved, it might just be a little bit more marketable. As for BP, he needs to get away from the blue groove & move to a decent track/promotion, say Brandon, he would thrive As for this GP, destroyed by the weather. End off
RPNY
I though it was a very good GP. Obviously the weather spoliled it for a bit, but towards then end the overtaking picked up again.. So there was an advantage coming off of gates 1&2. Doesnt mean that the racing wasnt good does it. There was loads of overtaking & I for one am happy that some fresher faces were in the mix for the big points.
sancho
If Speedway had more people like Lord Olsen involved, it might just be a little bit more marketable. And there would be no speedway in the UK Dont remember him being too keen to ride in the wet himself
iris123
Dont remember him being too keen to ride in the wet himself I thought Ole was involved in at least one soaking wet World Final and the controversial heat with Michael Lee when Ole was over the 2 minute time allowance, getting himself and his bike washed down.If there was a top rider who didn't seem to fancy wet tracks it was PC if my memory serves me well. But then i guess his style needed a dry track
fatface
Dont remember him being too keen to ride in the wet himself That's completely wrong. Olsen was something of a mud-lark in his day
Dave67
And there would be no speedway in the UK Dont remember him being too keen to ride in the wet himself UK speedway, certainly at EL level is doing a fine job of destroying itself, it does not need the assistance of the big O or anyone else for that matter:blink: He always has championed riding in the wet & argued that it can & should be done. Subedei
QUOTE (Rob B @ Apr 28 2008, 08:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Night was all about gates 1 & 2 you could forget 3 & 4 and after the rain that got even worst. Not according to the former British champion and global superstar it didn't. According to the excuses of Nicholls, as reported in the Speedway Star: "Then the rain came down before my last two rides off the inside and the outside gates weren't quite such a disadvantage at the end". lucifer sam
That's completely wrong. Olsen was something of a mud-lark in his day Messed up the 1977 World Final somewhat, though. All the best Rob
kiwi
Just watched Sky coverage, I thought it was a great GP, but they need some new cameramen. The amount of times the leader was not in the shot. And coming into bend 1 on the second lap, time and time again there was a pass that was missed, that you had to what for the reply and hoped they showed it. And has Nicholls got a deal with Sky, why focus on him close up when he's in fourth place, when there's a good race developing 80m in front of him. f-s-p
Dont know how close it actually was, but there was a malfunction at the nuclear power plant at Krsko yesterday and they had to shut it down. This years GP could have been the last one...
tomazpozrl
This years GP could have been the last one... May I ask why? What does this incident have to do with GP? It's true that speedway track is pretty close to the plant, but when we are speaking about potential danger of nuclear power plant, even 100 km is close. Krsko power plant is safe, in over 20 years of operation there were no major problems. From what Slovenian media are reporting, yesterday's incident was nothing too serious, although European comission issued quite serious warning. One of the pumps in the power plant's primary cooling system started leaking a little bit, therefore they decided to shut the power plant down. The leak was not big and immediate shut down was not necessary, but they shut it down as a precaution. They will replace the pump in the next few days and the power plant will then continue to operate. Our media are also reporting that this incident didn't effect the environment or population. Even the employers working inside the power plant were not endangered, because noone was in the area where malfunction occured. There was some small amount of radiation in the primary cooling system of the power plant, but not much.

I guess my first question should have ended with ...at this track. tomaz, pics will come this evening. Edited June 5, 2008 by f-s-p
