Authorised
So I see from the British Speedway website that Olly Allen will not get an opportunity to qualify for the Speedway GPs for 2009. I cannot see how Daniel King gets ahead of Olly Allen, for the life of me, I do not understand why? Can anyone explain?

I thought it was the top however many riders from the British Final go through to the qualifiers?
Silver Bee
Timing of the Biritsh final is wrong for that to happen this year.

Lets be honest though neither King nor Allen would qualify anyway. Check out the line up for the Polish GP qualifier.

Christ, I'd love them to make you eat your words, what did Jim Lynch say, he's sick of the negativity from the fans concerning the british riders. Fair enough some of them don't give enough effort to make it to the top but they don't all deserve knocking eh? Wish King luck not put the mockers on him? Of course I wish Danny luck, I've followed his career with interest,. Ever since I saw him score an 18 point max in the Conference League at Wimbledon. But he is simply not good enough for the GP's yet. Granted going through the qualifiers will be a good experience for him as it would for Olly. bazaar3
I have to say I agree with Authorised. Regardless of last seasons averages surely this seasons start is how to assess a rider and Allen has scored a lot heavily than King and indeed most of the Brits even though he was poor at Poole on Wedensday. Makes no sense and I would like to hear an explanation from Jim why he didn't pick Allen. I am glad he picked mostly youngish riders and regardless of how far they get at least they get some more experience. Don't get me started on the timing of the British Final.... T.N.T.
Even if it was on averages, Oliver Allen should be ahead of Daniel King anyway. His average with bonus points is closer to seven a match and the reason he had so many bonus points was because he rode in a more powerful team. British Final - Last year it was a great meeting with riders trying to qualify for the next stage as well as trying to get the wild card for Cardiff. This year rider have had to be seeded through as there are qualifying rounds before the British Final. Why could the qualifiers for the BF have been in April and the final around May Day weekend. colincooke
It appears that a report in today's Sunday Star says that an admin error has resulted in Olly's failure to be selected. Apparently Jim Lynch was unaware that declarations needed to be made 1 month prior to the British Final, so that is why the decision was made on last years averages. Another cock-up & let's hope that Olly does get a well deserved place in the WC qualifier at Brandon. I'd certainly pick him ahead of Steady right now. Exactly, the purpose of Green Sheets without Bonus Points is misleading IF it is going to be used for International selections....Its wrong! I also agree with you, Colin, on WC selection. Its disappointing though that a cock up has been done as well.
