Bradford Ace
Cheers Sub. Following Bydgoszcz so think they should have enough to progress now back to the Ekstraliga. Would have been v interesting if they hadnt lost points at start of season. Missed the key word Ostrow out of that last post & put "they" instead!! pedropete
Okay, top six in the Ekstraliga go into the medal play-offs, with the bottom two going into a relegation play-off. The medal play-off is: 1 vs 6 ( A ) 2 vs 5 ( B ) 3 vs 4 ( C ) The winners on aggregate and the highest runners up go to the next stage, which is: Winners A vs Highest runners-up Winners B vs Winners C Then the two winners race for Gold and the two losers for Bronze. The losers of the relegation play-off are relegated, the winners go into a race-off with the second team in Liga I, which has a different system. Okay, in Liga I, after everyone has raced home and away against everyone else in the regular season, the league is split into two leagues. The top four have a mini league and the bottom four have a mini league. The points are added to the "regular season" points, but the league split remains. Thus, the "best" team in the lower mini league might accumulate more points than the bottom team in the upper league, but they can't overtake them because their mini-league programme was weaker. The league leaders at the end are promoted and the second team go into a race off with the winners from the Ekstraliga relegation race-off. So you can finish 6th in your league out of 8 which is pretty poor and still win the Gold. Not sure if I think that is fair.

Niclas
So you can finish 6th in your league out of 8 which is pretty poor and still win the Gold. Not sure if I think that is fair. Sweden has exacly the same system (but we have ten teams in the league). The winner of the Elitserien meets team number six and so on. The thing is that team number six actually can win the goldmedal. Today Indianerna has the sixth place but there is a chance that Westervik vill get it instead of the Indianerna. Westervik is usually one of the best team but their season has so far been terrible. But they have reached the final the last three years and have riders like Chris Harris, Tomas GOllob, Bjarne Pedersen, PUK, BIlly Forsberg, G. Laguta, a team that actually can make it the whole way. Fair? Maybe not but probably more exiciting. Edited September 1, 2008 by Niclas
MattyHart
I managed to tune into some Polish speedway for once in a while, however wasn't really sure who was riding, it involved a first bend crash with Tomasz Gollob if i rememeber rightly, this was the previously mentioned, Torun : Gorzow i'm assuming? Anyone else struggling 2 get this?? Just noticed a different thread where some people cant seem to get the Ekstraliga stream but i can get that no problem but for some reason the Gdansk meeting wont load up so not sure if its just my computer?? Have seen every meeting this season home & away so will be gutted if i miss out on this one, esp as it seems 2 be the promotion clincher. Lawrence - do you know if there are plans to continue with this fantastic coverage next season if/when Bydgoszcz move up to the Ekstraliga?? That really would be fantastic 2 see all the GP boys week in week out around the best race track around..counting down the days now til i get 2 visit the place at long last for the GP. For gods sake though, can someone please keep that idiot Olsen away from the race track. We want it like it is every week for league action, not like the motorways he's obsessed with for the GP's!!! For gods sake though, can someone please keep that idiot Olsen away from the race track. We want it like it is every week for league action, not like the motorways he's obsessed with for the GP's!!! Well.... there is a little complication. Ekstraliga Ltd owns rights to TV coverage and Internet coverage as well. In I liga clubs can sell rights to TV or Internet coverages on their own way. That`s why Polsat Sport gives a live broadcasts from Bydgoszcz, Gdansk, Ostrow and Poznan. Those 4 clubs have made a deal with Polsat TV. Polonia Bydgoszcz managment kept for themselves rights for internet coverage. And ITV24.com.pl - that I cooperate with making commentary - did a deal with Polonia Bydgoszcz club. We do a record of every meeting and we put it into the website for the fans, not only Polish :-) Polonia as a club has copies of those meetings of course. As I wrote above, Speedway Ekstarliga owns all rights for TV and Internet coverage. That`s why you are able to watch every [almost] Sunday ONE meeting in the Internet website [the 2nd one is broadcasted by TVP Sport but this channel is only on pay TV called nTV and in some cable operators [unfortunetely not in Bydgoszcz, that`s make me angry], and local TV on Monday to Tuesday night. But I hope that ITV24 will try to buy a rights for themselves from Eksttraliga for next season. We [iTV24] just need aout 40.000 or 45.000 zlotys [about 9.500 or 11.000 pounds]. And this is a small 3-4 man TV [incl. me] and sponsors are needed. But I hope it will be done. If not - sorry- there will be no iInternet coverage like this year. BTW - maybe someone should show to Ole Olsen this website, making him possible to watch how to prepare Bydgoszcz`s track for the meetings? Hey Lawrence, Really really hope that you can strike a deal with the Ekstraliga then for next season. Your not exactly asking for mega money so hopefully something can be sorted through sponsors or whatever although these big TV companies are not exactly the most friendly types are they & only want to look after themselves!! Must say though that i'd really miss your fantastic coverage if itv24 cant show the meetings next yr. I go to Belle Vue on a monday eve so every tues i usally settle down 2 Bydgoszcz's latest meeting & the racing has been brilliant most of the yr. Been raving about Sajfutdinov all yr on the Belle Vue website saying we should try & sign him & he's more in the public eye now after the World Cup so everyone is saying the same about him now. At least i've been able to follow every meeting this yr tho online which is great cos its been a cracking yr for them so far. Just need to finish off with promotion now to top it off which should be a formality really. Regret not seeing a league meeting live but my 1st taste of Bydgoszcz will be a week on saturday so cant wait 4 it now!! Hopefully next yr, i might make it over 4 a league meeting. If you keep AJ, Joonas, Sajfutdinov & maybe get Gollob & a couple of others then next season could be successful as well. Fingers x'd it will all be available online as well!!
