f-s-p
Hi! I'm planning on being there. We are gonna hire a car from Bergamo and drive there, so I want to know whats it like to hire a car in Italy. Insurance being the main question. Do I need a "Super waiwer" in Italy? Anything else I should know? I've seen the track from google maps and it looks big. Whats the racing usually like there?

Anything else I should know? I've seen the track from google maps and it looks big. Whats the racing usually like there? Having visited Terenzano in 2003 we were involved in a serious car accident just a mile from the track when we were hit by a speeding Ferrari. It meant an ambulance ride to the local hospital so I'd definately recommend extra insurance when hiring a car. It cost me over 2000 Euro for the car excess plus all the medical bills for the family so definately worth the extra 20 Euro per day or whatever. Having been to Italy many times since its a great place to drive, you just have to have your wits about you on the Autostrada. Italy overall is a fantastic place, certainly our favourite place to visit in Europe. Hope this helps f-s-p Edited April 1, 2008 by ballinger

Went there for the world junior final 2 years ago, like yourself got a cheap flight to bergamo and drove, i tend to book with travelsupermarket.com these days, the quotes include C.D.W., and sometimes that can be as much as the car cost in the first place. No probs with hotels in the town on the morning of the meeting, racing wasn't up to much, inside line all night, when lindback tried to go wide he just went backwards, so the rest of them just huddled on the white line hoping for a mistake. f-s-p
The racing question was compulsory... I had a good idea about the answer. Flights were booked today. Thank's for the car tip. He##z was giving a quote for 200 €/3 days and the waiver was for +17 € a day. Got to look them through. I've been to Italy once before, not this north though. We were wondering about the start time of the meeting... It'll probably be like Lonigo? Starting after sunset at around 6-9 pm? Then staying in Udine for the night. From memory the racing when we went was pretty good. Got a feeling Jamie Smith won the meeting

A car booked through travelsupermarket.com. Europcar is providing us a Ford (naturally ) alltough only Fiesta (or similar ) for three days including CDW for 180 €. We are taking it from Verona and returning it to Bergamo so I think there's a bit extra in it. But h¤¤z was quoting 250 € for the same deal so I owe someone a beer or two . Hopefully we'll see Kauko there! Edited April 11, 2008 by f-s-p
Jancarz
Better stick to taxis, my friend Be careful if you do go by taxi. Went there in 2003 (I think) for the GP qualifying semi final. Great meeting, good viewing from grandstand. Got taxi from Udine, no problem. After the meeting was a different story altogether. We tried calling the number we had been given by the driver who took us to the track - just went throught to an answerphone. We then asked at the Speedway office who kindly tried to call us a cab but no answer from any of the cab companies. In the end, we got chatting to a British fella, turned out to be Graham Reeve who was GB u21 boss at the time who when hearing of our predicament offered to give us a lift into Udine. Lift gratefully accepted and saved me from what was probably a 6 mile walk which would not gave gone down well with my girlfriend!!

We were very surprised that taxi's dont always come in the UK either. When visiting Somerset back in 2003 we stayed after the meeting at the pub near the track by the junction. When we wanted a taxi back to the town, the bartender said they dont come this far! It got sorted in the end, we got a lift from psycho's friend.
