Vicar
So like every year, in 2008 there are Argentinian Individual Championships. The favorites are Lisandro Husman (he was in norwegian league in season 2007) and Manuel Hauzinger, who gained title in 2007. From 13.01 to 30.01 there also rode another man from Austria - Manuel Novotny. I found results of nine rounds, it's not the end. Below I wrote only results of finals. Just look for Micaela Bazan - this woman was twice in finals. 1st. round, Bahia Blanca (23.12): ALLENDE, Covatti, Hauzinger, Romano, Goycochea, Husman 2nd. round, Bahia Blanca (30.12): HUSMAN, Covatti, Allende, Romano, Hauzinger, Catafi 3rd. round, Bahia Blanca (8.01): HAUZINGER, Allende, Romano, Goycochea 4th. round, Bahia Blanca (13.01): HUSMAN, Covatti, Novotny, Bazan, Curzio, Hauzinger 5th. round, Carhue (18.01): HUSMAN, Covatti, Gismondi, Romano, Hauzinger, Novotny 6th. round, Bahia Blanca (20.01): HAUZINGER, Husman, Covatti, Allende, Novotny, Romano 7th. round, Bahia Blanca, (30.01): L.HUSMAN, Allende, Covatti, Novotny, Hauzinger, Keegan 8th. round, Bahia Blanca, (3.02): HAUZINGER, Salas, Fanfliet, Keegan, Romano 9th. round, Bahia Blanca, (10.02): HAUZINGER, Covatti, Romano, F.Husman, Keegan, Bazan Standings after 9 rounds: 1. For those who can't read spanish a translated version of reasonable quality is provided here In English-ish As with most web translation services subsequent links are also converted. Vicar
Any details of 12th, 13th and 14th round?
iris123
The way i heard it.Hauzinger was leading the championship by 2 points then the last two rounds were cancelled.I heard from someone that it could have been deliberate as manuel had to fly back to Europe and the last two meetings would then be scheduled for after he had gone Conspiracy theory!!!! Not sure if they were ever held though Edited April 16, 2008 by iris123
Vicar
There were 14 rounds, and generally won Covatti (details) but I can't find results of last three rounds. AndyM
I was going to ask if it was called the Argentinian Individual Championship because only one rider took part, but evidently the scene down there is thriving more than I would have expected. Have they taken part in the WTC yet?

Have they taken part in the WTC yet? Only ONE rider from Argentina has ever ridden in the WTC (funny as it sounds) Emiliano Sanchez has ridden for ITALY in the WTC, since he has some Italian blood in his veins. ARGENTINA as a national team has never entered International speedway competition.

ARGENTINA as a national team has never entered International speedway competition. Argentina has a long history of speedway, going back to the late 1920s when UK-based riders like Frank Varey, Eric Langton and the American 'Sprouts' Elder were among many who raced there. They also competed in neighbouring Uruguay.
Bavarian
This season (2007-8) the Argentinian Speedway Championship was staged for the 51st time in a row. It began in 1956-7 and has been run every year since. Indeed a proud history of the sport in this South American country. And as speedyguy quite rightly wrote, there was speedway there very early on around 1930, when many famous riders toured and rode in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Montevideo (Uruguay).
