norbold
Stamford Bridge were known as The Pensioners, though the name Brigands has also been attached to them.

star ghost
I was told that after the War Glasgow wanted to keep the "Lions" name but the Wembley promotion protested so G W C became the "Tigers"
norbold
Would i be right in thinking Lea Bridge we're The Saints <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, they were known as the Saints. In 1938 when they entered the second division they were known as the Cubs.
colincooke
Excellent Norbold as always. No clues as to the others. Stll need Barnsley, Bolton, Burnley, Leeds & Salford. Also did Nelson have a nickname.
norbold
I believe Leeds were yet another Lions in 1938 when they were in the second division. I'm not sure if they were the Lions when they were in the English Dirt Track League and the Northern League. Nelson were the Admirals. Can't help with the others...at the moment. Gemini
before anyone says it I am too old to be playing with these things So am I but it's really easy to edit a post by just clicking on the "edit" icon of your post, then you can delete the bit that shouldn't have been there and re-submit. You can even delete the whole of your next post by clicking on the "delete" icon and then no-one will know you made a mistake.

Gemini
Bless! Isn't it nice when a man takes notice of what a woman says. He's done a good clear up job on that post. Well done I like Slant. By the way I used to like Slant as well - if you are talking about Slant Payling. (I might have spelt that wrong.)
