With the Newport meeting starting at 1pm and ending around 3:00-3:30PM and the Birmingham meeting starting at 6pm it very possible to do both meetings should you wish  As the journey time between the two tracks is not much more then 2 hours.

Good call :approve: Especially as if I go to Newport I'll be making my way back to the Midlands after the meeting.

Jesus, you've really got a probably with that comment havent you? It was not even meant as insulting!!

That said, Nobody in that field who will beat Crump, Harris, Schlein, Watt or Kennett consistently is there :P Thats 5 riders who rode in last years SWC and for the major teams too icon_smile_tongue.gif;)

Phil is not Welsh Champion either :P Wales only has an Open Championship and that was won by Chris Holder icon_smile_tongue.gif Just like Chris won the Australian Open Championship this winter ;)

Whast more likely is I want to see Edinburgh and Stoke at Somerset this season.  But Somersets race nigt clashes with Coventrys, so I'm hoping them meeting are on a GP weekend, or even that Edinburgh go there on an off night

it's highly unlikely we'll be at Somerset on a Friday young man, seeing as that's our normal night for sunny Armadale. generally, it's either a Bank Holiday Monday or a Wednesday :)

...although we did race there on a Friday in 2002

If someone would like to arrange that, I'd be most grateful

JDC does the fixtures. they'll be announced early next month apparently

Can you ask that nice Mr Campbell if it would be possible not to have 90% of Glasgow's away fixtures confined to the months of June and July this year . Costs a bloody fortune .

In case anyone remembers his name...Hans Nielsen will be the Brummies Guest Of Honour at the Alan Hunt Memorial Trophy..

Wow and with news that more former riders will be over here in the Summer, and hopefully paying us a visit, it sounds like it could be a great year in many ways for Brummies fans.

I notice that Steve Johnston and Brent "Bad Knee" Werner  have been added to the line up.

Could be interesting if Brent repeats his New Year Classic form. Last year of coures he was the first rider to beat Zetterstom around Perry Barr, so the potential is there....good addition to the line-up if you ask me.

I expect there might be interest now from some Somerset fans. Sadly, not from me :(

Lyons, Howe & Compton to make the roster.

Ostergaard & Nieminen the only pair likely to trouble those three.

Hansen was poor when visiting Perry Barr with both Wolves & Workington last year.

Be interesting to see how Legault & Roynon go. I thought James Wright was riding, what happened?

I thought Wright was riding as well, it’s only since I `ve seen your post ive realised. Swindon aren’t riding sunday so I cant see why he wouldn’t ride, unless the swindon promotion have stopped him riding in it. It might be perhaps he’s injured but I haven’t seen anything saying he is, who knows.

The early weather forecast isn’t great. It looks at the minute like Sunday morning will be wet but the system will move southwards around lunchtime and after that dry for the rest of the day. With a greyhound meeting at lunchtime they won’t be able to work on the track till 3pm. A bit of rain wouldn’t hurt the track, it might even liven the racing up. I’m fairly optimistic that the meeting will take place, but you can only judge the weather on the day of the meeting.

Shawn McConnell has been confirmed in the line up.

He looked good in practice. I tell you what, if someone could find sponsorship to buy him European standard equipment he could ride in the PL this season.

-----------------------------------------------------

My rostrum three...

Howe

Lyons

Roynon (looked good in practice and did a lot of laps)

I hope the Brummies track staff have managed so source some shale. As I said after the practice on Wednesday, most of the track was last seen blowing across the North Sea.

Jokes aside, the track and weather conditions made practice very tough. The wind was still gusting very high, the sun dried the track out and the wind blew it all away as dust. It was right down to the base with a couple of lads finding out the hard way that there was nothing left to hold them up as the wind blew them into turn 1.

Sadly the complete flip side of the coin (well the weather) looks to be a threat on Sunday. Fingers crossed.
