Nick Simmons Testimonial

Recommended Posts

Looking out my window grey skies but no rain and slight wind taking clouds away looks like its getting brighter Good luck Nick you deserve everything and enjoy every moment for today as all the fans are there for you

Nice to hear it's a little better your way as here in Coventry it's been raining all night & hasn't stopped yet.

Still travelling down though, hope Nick has a great day.

Good on you Colin, it's still raining a little here in Newport but I'm really confident that the meeting will be on. The rain is due to stop around 9ish this morning, so fingers crossed the wind which has picked up will dry the track sufficently. Come on weather, don't spoil it for us......

Just hoping that went well for young Nicholas and that the place was packed. Just sorry I couldn't be in two places at the same time today. When my meeting was called off at 9.45 I had a load of calls to make and looked at the logistics of getting from Mildenhall to Newport by 1 but would have needed a helicopter!!

Hoped you kept me a programme and one for Miike Moseley who did the stats for it !!

A decent meeting for a good cause, even if the racing was a little processional at times and a typical early season affair. The fast gaters tended to win races, though Harris provided a lot of entertainment with some brilliant overtaking.

Considering the weather last night and this morning, the track was in excellent condition, if a little slick. Mroz looked a dam sight better on a smoother circuit than he has done in the past, and was better than expected when he made the gate. Still not convinced he will ever be heat leader material, but his post race celebrations made me laugh, can see him being more famed for his off track antics than on!

Fryer took a tumble on the fourth bend and limped away, nothing serious as far as I know. His Islanders team mate Stojanowski did well to lay the bike down, limiting the chance of serious injury.

Congratulations to Bridger, it takes a good rider to defeat Harris at Queensway Meadows.

Was there a good crowd watching

I estimate about 500 to 600. Great work by track staff considering all the rain, and track smooth anmd in good order. Thought Mroz was impressive, had an EF last ride. Went to get a coffee at the outlet by the entrance and was told they had tea and coffee but no milk. Think you need new caterers Mr Stone.

The Newport track has arguably the best drainage in the country. However that same drainage which saved the meeting today, is the same that causes the dust problems in the summer, a bit of a double edged sword.

The weather and no Wato kept a few away. Good show Marek nearly beat Harris.

Finally got home after a brilliant but exhausting day. May put a bit more tomorrow but just noticed the above post.

The weather may have kept people away but as Watson was declared as not riding till this morning I sure that wasnt a factor!!

Time for a shower, then bed.

Hi everyone,

Like Sandie I am absolutely shattered right now, but I'll throw in my tuppence whilst I have the chance as won't be on the PC for the next couple of days.

Obviously the horrible rainy weather that we've experienced put a lot of people off the journey to the testimonial (I know if I hadn't offered to help, it would have put me off the two hour journey from the Midlands). It certainly was stressful trying to clear the massive puddles first thing this morning, but luckily the rain held off and we were able to get this meeting on. We were very happy with the turn out, so thank you to all of you.

I was selling the merchandise most of the day, so I was actually lucky enough to be able to watch most of the racing (albeit on tip toes!) whilst the others were running around organising things. With this being a start of season meeting, this could easily have been one of those testimonials where the riders don't give 100% for fear of injuries etc. This was definitely not the case today, and I was especially impressed with the riding by BJ, Bomber, PUK, Mads and Bridger - great meeting guys!

It was clear today that a great deal of effort had been put into organising this meeting by all involved. Nikki, Lora, Sandie, Alan, Shawn - you did Nick proud.

And a perfect ending with BJ throwing Nick in the puddle at the end

Well, I'm off to bed now for a much needed rest!

Thanks for a great day :D

Well done to all to helped organise it as it went great and very enjoyable. I didnt get to see Nick thrown in the puddle, but, saw him when he come outside :P I hope someone got pictures!! :D
