Elite League Best Pairs

Recommended Posts

This year the organisers have opted for a 18 heat qualifying race format, 2 semi finals and a Final, the format this year based around all 9 Elite League teams provides each team four qualifying races, and the highest scoring four teams go forward to the semi finals, with the respective highest points scorers from the semi finals qualifying for the final.

Gates opened at 4pm....good crowd in stadium by about 7pm....light drizzle at 7.10pm....heavier rain at 7:30pm....riders and referee on track at 7:45pm......meeting called off at 8pm.....lots of traffic on surrounding roads at 8:15pm !!!

Bl00dy English weather !!

All I can say is that of all of the forecasts I've looked at for tomorrow for this region, they mostly say the same ...

Forecast...Saturday: King's Lynn, East of England.

A markedly colder day with brisk northerly winds and showers developing, these locally heavy and turning wintry later. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

The track was bone dry on Wednesday night, and we haven't had a spot of rain since then, so it all depends on how heavy these showers turn out to be and how localised they are.

Personally I think we'll get away with it, but guess it's in the lap of the weather Gods.

I'll send a prayer to the weather god and hope it works

Can't believe that nobody is fancying Belle Vue for this, I'm not saying we are definatly going to win but think we have a very good chance. Since the competition restarted in 2004 Jason Crump has been in the final every year with different partners, winning with Bjarne Pedersen last year and Simon Stead the year before. Also Charlie Gjedde won it with Leigh Adams the first year.

I'd say it was more in the minds of the riders, far more powerful than the weather Gods

All they have to remember is there will be hundreds of honest, working people on the terraces who have paid their money to watch them race, paid out a decent sum for diesel or petrol to get there, some who have paid to stay overnight after the meeting etc .................... they shouldn't need much more incentive than that eh SL??

If you mean that it will be their decision whether the meeting goes ahead if the weather is a bit dodgy, now that one is up to them ..................

Unforunately, AJ and Scott Nicholls are injured. Hampel must be busy elsewhere. Other than that, I think we have the top 2 from each team.

Just to let any potential travellers know that it was bone dry throughout the night and though it's quite windy and cold this morning it's still dry.

I will try and post another weather update this afternoon.
