Polish League 2008

Recommended Posts

Almost all Polish fixtures (without II liga which is not ready) you can find at this forum -> http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=39041

Polish clubs can sign the contracts with riders till the and of January. Later they can only borrow/lend the riders from/for another clubs.

There is no riders limit in Polish leagues.

How annoying that Poznan have home meetings either side of the GP. Bydgoscz it is then, does anyone know much about Daugpilvs (sp)???

Well Grigorij Laguta, who was the Latvian GP wildcard rider, plus they have just got Kjastas Puodzuks back and also signed Lagutas younger brother Artiom.Plus Piotr Swist.A few Latvians and a few Russians. Not a bad side, but not outstanding.Laguta did look good in the Latvian GP though.

Hi!

So good to here that you liked GP in Bydgoszcz, because I came from this city and my club is Polonia Bydgoszcz :)

You've asked about regulations. What league do you prefer? Regulation in Extraleague are quite different then in 1st and 2nd league.

Extraleague (Ekstraliga)

In match in team there are 7 riders (numbers 9-15 for home team, and 1-7 for away). Riders under numbers 6 and 7 (or 14 and 15) must be U21, one of them must be pole. Two riders from all team must be pole too. The U21 rider can be replaced only by U21 rider. There are also jokers, tactical substitutions and rider replacements. There are aggregate points.

League system. All teams rides 14 matches (with all rivals, home and away). Then there will be playoffs (2 matches):

1-6

2-5

3-4

To the semi-finals goes winners of each pair, and the best looser (team who gained the most points). Then there are semi-finals and finals.

Two last teams (7-8) ride two matches. Looser goes to the 1st league, winner will fight with second team form 1st league about place in Extraleague.

First league (Pierwsza liga)

In match in team there are 8 riders (numbers 9-16 for home team, and 1-8 for away). Riders under numbers 6, 7 and 8 (or 14, 15 and 16) must be U21, two of them must be pole. The U21 rider can be replaced only by U21 rider. There are also jokers, tactical substitutions and rider replacements. There are aggregate points.

League system. All teams rides 14 matches (with all rivals, home and away). Then teams are divided in two groups: 1-4 and 5-8. In each group team rode 6 matches (home and away with all rivals). First team from group 1-4 goes to Extraleague. Second team fight with 7th team from Extralegue.

Quite actual squads you can find here for Extraleague, here for 1st league, here for 2nd league.

If you want to know more regulations just ask :) Best regards

Hello

This is a very old thread but just wanted some more info re League 1.

You say that when the regular season finishes the league is split into 1-4 & 5-8. At the top end, when 1-4 have all met each other home & away is the winner of this mini league automatically promoted to the Ekstraliga or is there a play off between the top 2??

Thinking of maybe taking in a Bydgoszcz league meeting & trying to plan which one would have the best crowd/atmosphere??

Cheers.

From memory, the top team is promoted automatically and then it gets complicated. The bottom two teams in the Ekstraliga race-off to decide who is relegated, with the loser automatically relegated. The winner then goes into a race-off with the second team in Liga I. So, it is possible that two teams are relegated and two teams promoted. But generally speaking the gap between Ekstraliga and Liga I means that only one team is promoted and one relegated.

It's mostly age related. They don't have reserves in Poland, just juniors. And once you're passed 21 you can't ride as a junior (6-7 / 14-15) anymore, so you move into the main body of the team (1-5 / 9-13). Of course, a junior can ride in the main body of the team.
