This year - and probably next year - we did 3 meetings in 3 days on the Prague trip with TP Tours, with meetings at Mseno and Divisov. Many of the TP trips include other meetings apart from GP's.

TP ain't cheap, but you just turn up and everything is done for you. When I was in  my 20's I did trips on my own (and it wasn't anywhere near as easy in the 70's as it is today, believe me!) , these days I just let a reliable company organise it all.

Each to their own!

Fully agree with each to their own, but these extra trips should be included. 2 years ago those poor sods with TPT were charged £25 to get to slany on the friday, those of us that just hopped on a bus or train got there for under £2. I noticed in last years brochure some of these trips were included, probably because most of us there made sure the TPT crowd heard how much it really cost. But well done to mr easter, he's found a market where people are stupid enough to pay 2-3 times as much as rest of us, and he'd be an idiot not to exploit it.

£23 profit per person on a £2 ticket! no wonder he says no one should miss out on travel plus tour!!

Yes, I've been on one of his trips. It was well organised, although it was more him doing it at cost-price for his mates rather than an officially-organised thing wasn't it?

Yep exactly and that was my point in how much profit travel plus are making, but like I said I suppose its good for single people to go on if they want to spend the money to be with others.

Another plus point for TPT is that when they travel to exotic locations they'll engage the services of a interpreter

To be honest, that isn't much of a selling-point these days. To return to what's being discussed on another thread, practically everyone involved in the European tourist industry speaks English to some extent these days.

Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh!!

Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, what are we gonna do with ya? :o

If you'd checked the link in me post you'd have noticed a photo of a certain distinguished gentleman - oh, O.K., Bigfatb****** on a TPTour.

Here's a tip - Its ME ya Wally!!

This was a subtle attempt at humour on my behalf, trying to extract the urine as it were; amazingly a wee bit too cerebral for ya perhaps?

Although I suppose its a bit much asking a Pomgolian for his sense of humour, I mean, let's face it, with the Cricket team you've got to follow there's not much to laugh about, eh?

You of all people should be aware by now that a significant percentage of my postings are posthumously dedicated to the late Great Helmsman, Mao-tse-Tongue-in-Cheek!! ;)B)

They're the only ones in the business these days, aren't they?

Actually they are not. Eurorider do trips as well, and they are very good. Quite a bit cheaper than Travel Plus (difference is they travel by coach rather than plane although it is luxurious). I have been with TP and ER and both make you feel very welcome. When the meetings are finished and you are feeling a wee bit tired and maybe had one too many, getting on a coach is luxury. TP is expensive especially for my budget but I save up for speedway in the winter, no holidays on the never never for me. There is no way I would have seen speedway in Hungary or Croatia if it wasn't for them. Not sure which trips I am going on in the coming year but I am quite sure I shall be using both companies. I have been on trips myself and like Crazysue says, it is scary. I have been lost quite a few times.

Why pay 2,50 £ for fish and chips when you can plant the potatoes in the spring, watch them grow, fish for cod while you're at it and then harvest the potatoes when they're ready. Then take the lot to your mother and she prepares them for you. FOR FREE!!

We travelled with the Speedway Star Travel Club when I went to Lonigo (2006) and tend to agree with most of the sentiments already posted - a shade on the expensive side but they do take all the hassle out of travelling.

For some of the more tourist friendly cities you can probably sort yourself out quite easily, but when heading off the beaten track it's nice to let someone else take the strain. :approve:

My one gripe would be over the ticket prices for the GP itself - we paid premium rate for some home straight seating only to find that you could pay cash on the night for the same area for less than half the price. Not good.

As someone closely involved I’ve sat back and watched the various comments come in.

Clearly there are people who enjoy doing there own thing, whilst others prefer to have it all done for them. There are room for both.

On a personal level when I’m flush with cash there is nothing better going to see my little man in Jermyn Street, who will run me off a quality hand made suit. Sadly most of the time I have to settle for a good old M & S job.

Now in both cases the suit does the same job and meets the basic need of covering my bits and keeping me warm, and in my case that takes a lot of cloth!!!! But the hand made “whistle” just has that extra edge, which makes it worth paying three times more than the M & S version.

It all a question of how someone chooses to spend their disposable income. What I do find offensive is someone like Spanner 47, referring to TP clients as “stupid”. A lot of these people are contributors to this Forum and I don’t think it’s too pleasant to refer to other Forum members in this derogatory way.

However Spanner 47 you are clearly an expert in Czech travel. So I will be asking Mr Easter to send you a PM so you can organize our next trip to Slany for £2 per head, which represents fantastic value.

The spec we require is as follows and matches exactly what we did before:

1. Luxury coach (please send full spec within 14 days) plus 2 others on standby. We will confirm exact numbers 24 hours prior to event. Coach(s) from hotel to Slany.

2. Admission and programme to Slany Speedway, and reserved seats (if required) in grandstand.

3. Full 3 course meal at hotel on way to venue. Please send choice of three menus within 28 days for approval.

4. Choice of drinks at restaurant, please send with menu options available.

5. Use of local guide. Please provide full details of the guide’s experience and qualifications.

6. Name of contact at the stadium, and confirmation of bus parking facilities.

All this for £2!! Fab!!!!!!!!!

On a more serious note, best wishes, and compliments of the season, to all those who have travelled with us this year, and I look forward to greeting many of you again in 2008. In the meantime it’s off to the Colonies, to try and bring a little culture and sophistication to the locals. I may be a while!!!!!!!!!!

Well said, Mr Snackette. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Slany. No way we could have done all we did in that day alone, think we went to Jawa factory that day also and the meal was in a hotel restaurant. Looking forward already to next year. Enjoy Oz, any room for the Wee Hen  ?

And by the way, we want to see you in that posh suit next year, cufflinks, waistcoat and all :D

We also enjoyed our trip to slany, but we paid £1 each way on train <bus £1-70 return>. £1-25 to get in, including grandstand seat, and if we'd wanted a meal we can easily get one for a fiver, with the choice of a whole menu. I think we got the better deal.

If all you ever think about is money, I'm surprised you didn't just hitch a lift and climb over the stadium fence to get in!
