BobC
He is a regular here at Poole. He attends most home meetings.Always smiling and a happy little chappie. He and the late Maury Mattingly used to have some fun when I took some photos in from the 50's.Often having a friendly argument about whos who in them.Regularly being corrected by Rosita,Maurys wife!!! Lives a couple of miles away from the Stadium.Still got a great singing voice too!

BOBBATH
That is wonderful to hear-I would imagine the passing of Maury Mattingly was a big blow to Norman.
chippy01
Anyone else remember Norman going headlong into the fence on the 3rd turn at Wimborne Rd in the early 70s, being thrown over/through the fence onto the dog track. Many of us thought the worst, it looked horrendous. But after a few minutes he got up, dusted himself down and walked back to the pits. To a rousing reception from the many thousands of fans who were always in attendance back then.

BobC
Had a bit of luck at the recent Speedway and Grass Track show. I managed to find some old photos of riders in Poole colours.I found portraits of Norman,Pete Munday,Tony Lewis,Bill Andrew,Ronnie Genz and John Langfield. All originals too. I even found 2 very rare ones.About as rare as rocking horse poo! Chum Taylor and Alf Hagon in Pooles colours. Well pleased,I can tell you. BobC
BobC, Do you remember who was selling the portraits? I think it was John Barber,Nicks brother. Mind you,he did have a portrait of Wal Morton in the Poole section, but he was actually wearing a Liverpool racejacket. Hoping to see some of the same at High Beach on Sunday. BobC
Norman is a great character.Takes him ages to walk round the stadium at Poole because everyone stops him for a chat. Almost always with a smile and is happy to talk about speedway with anyone.Told me many a tale from his riding career. You are quite right to be proud of him. A Poole legend.
