Kalle Katajisto won Yyteri Speedway yesterday at Pori. He was very good. Looked like a boiled spaghetti on his bike and kept going faster and faster as the record long meeting progressed.
Nice to see kalle going well, how was his gating.

It's getting better as well, they worked on it a lot during the training camp in Hallstavik.

Finnish nominations for the qualifier at Pori are:

Kalle Katajisto, Jari Mäkinen, Teemu Lahti and the reserves Niko Siltaniemi and Aarni Heikkilä.

The deadline for entries was yesterday, so a full lineup is expected today. I know Risager, Jonasson, Gustafsson, Klindt are certain starters. What a meeting in prospect!

what date is the Pori meeting ?

Here, saturday 31st of May. U21 World Championship Scandinavian qualifying round.

We did some maths yesterday, since there's a demand within FIM to scrap the Scandinavian qualifier and spread the riders among others. It's a fact that this is probably the toughest of the qualifiers. I mean look at some of the riders that qualified last weekend? I wouldn't be surprised to see a last years finalist to not qualify from Pori. But the money to make the trip from Finland to Slovenia for example make's me cry...

Lineup for Pori

1. JONASSON Tomas Sweden

2. LARSEN Peter Juul Denmark

3. KATAJISTO Kalle Finland

4. EKLÖF Linus Sweden

5. GRAVERSEN Jan Denmark

6. LINDGREN Ludvig Sweden

7. SOLBERG Tord Norway

8. NILSSON Kim Sweden

11. TÖRNQVIST Robin Sweden

13. MÄKINEN Jari Finland

14. GUSTAFSSON Simon Sweden

15. LAHTI Teemu Finland

16. KLINDT Nicolai Denmark

Here's an interesting link regarding Tero Aarnio. Go Tero, having the time of his life for sure! :approve:

EDIT: There is a a very heated and onesided discussion going on on the Finnish forum. Appe Mustonen isn't happy at all that he didn't get a nomination for the U21 qualifier. Plenty of people shouting and calling others a$$kissers and such... :approve:

Oh how I would like to join that party... Those were the days....

Looking forward to seeing Kalle and Jari again. Never heard of the other rider

Niko Siltaniemi the same age as Katajisto, born in 1991. Made a lot of progress last season and has progressed a lot this season too. For what I know he doesn't have the best equipment, but he's only seventeen, keen and willing to travel. I dont think any of our guys has seen the track before, so I really dont have any high hopes.

Interesting development then.I did ask you a few years ago about this Scandinavian/Nordic qualification round and why it was kept on the calendar. But there is some sense in it.I mean if you look at various meetings held in Russia they tend to end up as East European/Russian meetings. At the U19 meeting in Balakovo,Kevin Wölbert was the only "Western" rider there.Germany originally had another spot, but no-one wanted to travel 3,000km.And it seems to happen quite often that there ends up being 6 or 8 Russian riders in these things as countries can't get riders who want to travel those distances. You just have to look at the 2 French riders for instance in the Güstrow meeting. They looked like novices in the U19 meeting there earlier in the year.It just would be a waste of time them travelling all that way to Finland or Russia.

Though all credit to the Americans, and also the Australian riders and families that have and will travel over for the YGT

I'm looking to results and to heat after heat and I found mistake. Weckman and Nieminen had one heat less then they should. It should be:

Lahti 11

Jukka Nieminen 21200 5

Markku Weckman 10311 6

I better start doing these with more time on my hands. Thank you for your help.

I was at Pori yesterday watching Jari Mäkinen getting some practise and training. On a track all by himself he was riding the same times as Kalle Katajisto and Tomi Reima did more than a week ago. There's still plenty for him to do, but judging by what I saw he only needs a few more push to the right direction.

Any hopes for Pori? I think Kataisto and Makinen are the most talentent finnish riders in Scandinavian Quali for few years :)

We just got back from the bar and there was no hope... Looking very bleak for the morning also...

Nordic qualifier today at Pori

1st Linus Eklöf

2nd Ludvig Lindgren

3rd Morten Risager

4th Simon Gustavsson

5th Kim Nilsson

6th Nicolai Klindt

runoff for 2nd between Ludvig, Morten, Simon and Kim. Run off for 6th between Nicolai and Leon Madsen. Madsen was leading entering the backstraight but shed a chain. The Finns were still crap.
