Chris Brown
The low admission prices over the last decade have held the sport back. Heard it all now. Low admission costs have held the sport back !! Blimey Steve, you have really lost your marbles now. Tell you what, Put it up to £30 a meeting for EL meetings at Poole and lets see how that pushes the sport forward
Steve Shovlar
You can hardly do it in one jump. But the sport has undersold itself for years.
Arthur Daley
You can hardly do it in one jump. But the sport has undersold itself for years. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Brilliant. Putting the admission price up will take the sport forward. Good to see the forward-thinking Poole promotion setting the standards.
dorset delight
Well the only reason i am going to this meeting,is because the tickets for me and my son were a christmas present.30 quid for kids Ford is avin a laugh.Yes i know he has overheads to meet but its still a bit steep. As for the game on sat steve first half rubbish, second half a cracker lucky swindon
Eastie
The argument would be the same whoever the team were holding the meeting but for me there are far better uses for a sponsor willing to give £60k. Just think, Poole could run a team in the Conference League <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Theres more chance of Shovlar landing on the moon. Matt Ford is always moaning about no British youngsters coming through but is willing to get a sponsor to fork out 60K to either Crump , Pedersen or Adams

You are obsessed with Poole <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wasnt replying to anything about Poole , I was replying to Chris Brown . It was about 60k going to the winner of this Open Meeting when it could be given to run a Conference Team. Poole have had their 2 minutes of fame and are so last year, nobody is bothered with them anymore Edited December 31, 2007 by Eastie
fox05
Got to say i agree with a bit of both sides It is a good start to the season.Poole have gone out and done the business here if it all comes off.It is what lots have been asking for.Back to the old days of big open meetings. SS mentioned feeling ripped off going to Bournemouth and we know Poole has a reputation for bad viewing. So how will a lot of fans who pay those high prices feel if they can hardly see the action?.Regardless of who is in the line-up if fans can hardly see they shouldn't be charged a fortune. That is the difference generally with going to a football stadium. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know if this is an old debate on here, but I don't agree that Poole has bad viewing at all. I have been to various tracks (Swindon, Eastie, Oxford, Reading) and I feel Poole has the best viewing, especially in the Old Grand Stand (the pillars are not a big deal IMO) and there is no big fence as there is at many other tracks. With regard to the open meeting, the people who cannot see the positive attributes are blind. Matt Ford has shown that he wants to provide a top class speedway event that will kick the season off to a brilliant start, but because so many people see red as soon as the word 'Poole' is mentioned (how petty) they fel they have to waste bandwidth criticising it. People's motives are SO see-through, it's quite funny actually. Give credit where credit is due.

Poole cannot run a conference team anyway as they do not own the stadium. Plus weren't Poole one of the few EL teams to take the acadamy league seriously this year, giving invaluable experience to youngsters just starting out in the sport. If you happen to sit in the main stand last block past the start line . The view of the first bend can be severely restricted due to the use of boarded panels rather than glass at the end of the stand . ( I believe this is out of the promoters hands and more to do with their landlords and health & safety ) .
tony159
Think tickets at £25-£30 our quite fair for a meeting like this ....... But still fail to understand why there are no discounts for Families and Concessions. Thought the way forward was to encourage kids, who are the fans of the future. hellsbells
It costs the same or much more to have a night on the town. Im more than happy with the price considering the riders present. If people had put just £ 1.50 a week away from the time the meeting was announced to the week of the event, this would buy them a grandstand ticket. Also, ive recently booked a holiday with friends who have children, and they received no discount for the kids, guess with only so much room on the plane they have to cover costs.
