DutchGrasstrack
Okey, update to the Belgium News . Dates: 27/04/08 - Dutch Open ??/??/?? - Meeting (probably a club meeting) ??/??/?? - Open Practice Day They did some track work, here are some pictures: http://www.speedwayfanclub.be/nieuws_nieuw...naanleg2008.htm (Belgium speedway track: Heusen-Zolder) Edited February 25, 2008 by DutchGrasstrack
f-s-p
They did some track work, here are some pictures: http://www.speedwayfanclub.be/nieuws_nieuw...naanleg2008.htm (Belgium speedway track: Heusen-Zolder) Dont they just love that fence. I've linked it before but the pic was taken away later. They actually rode a WC-qualifier with that fence back in 2004. I think the meeting was even stopped once or twice to get some extra trackwork done.

Ah it was you that linked to that pic.I remember it looked a terrible fence. Was only mentioning that pic a few months back. How a track like that could have been handed an FIM meeting i'll never understand.Well i would if it is all to do with politics

f-s-p
Lol, what's wrong with the track/fence ? The 4by4 inch concrete that keeps the fence up. Nothing major...
speedyguy
This all a long way from the exciting days of the Dutch League in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Then Holland had riders like Henk Stemen senior, Hans van der Sluis, Gerrit Kops in action. Things seem to have gone down since those days. DutchGrasstrack
The KNMV isn't going to ride on the Blijham track... as they disapproved it . There's a other federation in Holland, called the MON. The club: "Classic Speedway Holland" is a MON club and it looks like they will organise a meeting on the Blijham track . Dates from Classic Speedway Holland: 20/04/08 - Zuidbroek (NL) 18/05/08 - Zuidbroek (NL) 15/06/08 - Zuidbroek (NL) - Big meeting including Classic Speedway riders from GB, NL & DK, Classic Sidecars from NL & DK, 125cc speedway riders from GB & NL ! 06/07/08 - Zuidbroek (NL) 24/08/08 - Zuidbroek (NL) 21/09/08 - Zuidbroek (NL) All meetings got a lot of classes (classic speedway/sidecars, modern speedway/sidecard, 125cc speedway, moto-x bikes etc), beside the 15 June meeting, that meeting only got the classes as listed above. Glad to hear Thomas is ok.He had a bad crash at the beginning of 2006(i think)that i witnessed in Vojens that put him out for the whole of the season.3 man pile-up in which one rider broke their collar bone and Thomas broke his arm(if i remember rightly)and it took a hell of a time to mend. Like you say it is very distressing to hear the youngsters in so much pain.Saw a similar thing at Güstrow on saturday when one of the youngsters fell and another behind couldn't miss him completely, although he tried his best.Hope he is better soon and that is the worst injury of his career
DutchGrasstrack
Yeah it's so sad . Last year he (Arjan Dikkema) broke his arm... and now at the beginning of the season he broke his collarbone in a horrific crash.
