Guest Schumi
I wonder if some of our international posters could help out with the following please? I'm looking for the main tournaments on the calendar for different countries, e.g, Britain has the KO Cup, the Czechs have the Golden Helmet, Sweden have their own Under 21 Championships etc. Not the leagues, just the other things that go on throughout the speedway season for each different country. Thanks in advance.

Currently there are no dates for next year.
iris123
I think most countries have their own U21 championship, not just Sweden In Germany the qualifiers are split into a North and a South group. And there are a number of open events.Maybe not as big as the Czech Golden Helmet. The most significant attendance wise here in the north is the Auerhahnpokal at Teterow. It attracts a crowd of 6-8,000.Mainly because it is held the same weeknd as the Bergring grasstrack event at Teterow. But Brokstedt are celebrating their 25th anniversary on the 22.06.2008 so hopefully that will be a decent meeting
tomazpozrl
Well, Slovenia has: Official tournaments: - Individual championship (together with Austria and Croatia) - this year 4 meetings 2007 final standings: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...=1200&Itemid=62 - Individual junior championship (together with Austria, Croatia and Hungary) - this year 5 meetings 2007 final standings: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...=1201&Itemid=62 - Club cup competition (together with Austria and Croatia) - this year 5 meetings: this is not a competition like in England or Poland where 2 teams ride against each other. This cup competition was contested by 5 clubs/teams (AMTK Ljubljana, AMD Krsko, SK Unia Gorican, SK Prelog and Austria (this is not a real club, it's more of an Austrian select side)) who all rode in all 5 meetings 2007 final standings and some stats: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...=1208&Itemid=62 Then we also have some open meetings: - Golden Sign of Krsko (24th edition this year) 2007 results: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...d=895&Itemid=83 - Golden Helmet of Lendava (10th edition this year) 2007 results: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...=1064&Itemid=83 - SAX Speedway Supercup - a new open individual competition this year, which attracted some of the best riders in the world: Crump, B.Pedersen, Hampel, Zagar ... Results: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...d=836&Itemid=83 This meeting should evolve into one of the greatest open meetings in Europe in the next few years, because the promotor of this competition has big plans with it, something similar to Czech Golden Helmet ... (oops, you didn't hear that from me ). Edited November 14, 2007 by tomazpozrl

It's basically so I can draw up a history for each event and list the previous winners. Thanks for all the replies so far. Anything from Poland, Czech republic, Australia, Denmark, etc, please? iris123
Denmark has a joint U21/U19 championship.Plus Speed Club run their own competition for seniors,U21 and an 80cc version. Not sure how easy it will be to find previous winners. If you remember it was hard enough finding the results of the Anniversary meeting this summer There used to be a big open meeting the Gold Bar.You might have to get someone to go through all their old speedway stars to find all the results Was talk a couple of years back of holding a Danish Open Championship, but that needed tv involvement to get off the ground and didn't happen

DutchGrasstrack
But have you lost Blijham? What is happening there? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Loads of problems with the Dutch Track Racing commitee . The whole commitee quited after some problems.... Blijham was very angry because they were organizing the Final rounds of the Dutch Championship....... but the KNMV decided to organize 2 another round in Lelystad at the end of October.... because only 3 rounds where ridden, Blijham wasn't amused by this at all and decided to cancelled the Speedway in 2007 (they had the EC 125cc and 1 DC round). Looks like Blijham will organize one meeting this year.... a Quali round for the European Championship.... but nother sure yet . Normalis104
Hi! I am from Hungary. The greatest tournament in Hungary was the Miskolc Grand Prix from 1978 to 1997. You can find the list of winners here: http://speedway104.hu/index.php?option=com...d=646&Itemid=33 Now we have only one great international yearly competition on 20th August in every year in Debrecen, for the Great Prize of the town Debrecen. (20th August is a national holiday in Hungary.)

tomazpozrl
You mean he's putting up plenty of prize money for the winner <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's not all about the prize money, riders usually want a fixed sum of money just to get to the meeting. This guy is a local businessman who also owns the speedway pub that is under the main grandstand. This year he invited top 10 riders in the world (from the GP), so it's obvious he was prepared to spend a lot of money for this meeting. But, as he told me personally, at the end of the day he was still getting more money in then what he spent for riders, promotion and the whole organization. This was a result of a quite a big crowd (around 6000) and a two days party at the stadium that he also organized (it all started on Friday evening and then continued on Saturday evening right after the meeting was finished). f-s-p
Individual Championship - 4 quarterfinals, 2 semifinals and final (at the track of Team Champion from previous year) - the final is organized at 15th of August (Polish national holiday)<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think thats pretty impressive! Especially considering what other speedway nations had in comparison. Did Poland really have 4 quarterfinals, or is this just the system thats ready to be used when enough riders want to take part? For example, this year results: Quarterfinals: -Krosno: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...&news_id=200659 -Lodz: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...&news_id=200664 -Gdansk: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...&news_id=200738 -Ostrow: http://www.espeedway.pl/index.php?co=newsy&id=16598 Semifinals: -Zielona Gora: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...&news_id=211754 -Rybnik: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...&news_id=211725 Final: -Wroclaw: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/?dysc_id=4&k1_...&news_id=213240

DutchGrasstrack
The Dutch Tracks: Blijham is the best track 266,5km from Hamburg Veenoord is also a great track 315,9km from Hamburg Vledderveen is crap, rubbish track 281,4km from Hamburg Lelystad, nice track but small (290 meters) 419,8km from Hamburg If the EC Quali is on, go to that meeting (Blijham), if not, go to the Golden Helmet meeting in Veenoord .
