Troy Butler

Woman’s prerogative.........indecision is my middle name!

I’m struggling with my allegiances since I’ve moved south.

I mean, I honestly can’t wear an Eastbourne jersey!

Aussie on a technicality, but British in the long run.

Someone make my mind up for me!

Confused........you will be!

Does anyone remember Troy Butler? I'm starting to think he was a figment of my imagination! I'm sure he won a national league riders championship years ago.

Any ideas where he is now?

Troy Butler rode for Milton Keynes, he won the NLRC in 1988 at coventry, last time I met up with Troy he had been spannering for other riders, I don't know where he is now, a cracking young rider, he was 20 when he won the NLRC....

I think it was Troy who had a bizarre World Championship one year (1989?) where he was eliminated about three times on his way to the final, but sneaked through the backdoor each time as a reserve.

Absolutely spot on Falcace it was 1989 when the final was held in the Olympic Stadium at Munich. :):)

He rode as a guest for us once (Bradford) at Reading & it was the only away match we won in the league that season (think that 1989 as well) & he scored 14 points :D:D

There is a photo of Troy on Mike Patricks web site in his favourite pics :)

Troy is (and has been for some years) living back in his native Australia and (as you would expect of him) living life to the full. Nigel Wagstaff used to sponsor him and is in regular contact.

Troy Butler was a hero at Oxford in the 80s and though he ofen failed to get round the first turn he was a very popular, likable rider. He should have done more in the sport but he was Australian champion at one time was he not.

He's famous still at Cowley for a vital ride in the final heat of the 1985 KO cup final Oxford v Ipswich (reported crowd 5000)

He posted on the Oxford forum at the time of the death of Simon Wigg.

He was also Jason Crump's spanner man the year Crump was at Oxford in 1998

A role he continued for the following year when Jason returned to Peterborough. That was the last time I saw Troy having shared many conversations with him during his days in Milton Keynes. I have great memories of him winning the NLRC at Coventry in 1988 with a 15 point max.

Troy was an absolute legend at Oxford , A real nice guy and a real trier on track a 2 or 3 time aussie champ I think ,remember him wiping out Simon Wigg and Andy Grahame at pre season practice at Oxford when he first came over , we used say that we would super glue him on his bike he came of so much. Remember that 1985 cup final last heat absolute fantastic race ( after john cook took out donkey), and gave Oxford fans plenty of great moments .
