Guest Sir Lunchalot
Hi all you Aussies out there.I heard from a freind of mine in Queensland today who emigrated from here in Coventry a few years back. She told me that she had been talking to an ex-Bee & the son of a multi world champion who are trying to open up a new track in the area. The 2 guys in question are Mitch Shirra & Kym Mauger. Do any of you Roos know anything about this. I believe it's called Gold Coast Speedway. Is it Up & running. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know anything new but there has been talk for a few years that Gold Coast Speedway (Labrador) will eventually have to move. It's in a built up area and we all know built up areas and speedway don't mix. This might be part of that process. Labrador is an interesting track, it's not flat and has a definite slope uphill from the solo's start / downhill on the back straight and it's very much a love / hate type of track, riders either love it or hate it. The Gold Coast website is at http://www.goldcoastspeedway.com.au/ (which seems to be down at the moment)

Pollyanna
Stolen from Chopper who stole it from someone else !! C Holder, J Holder, Sweetman, Dore, Bevan, Masters, Woodward, Gathercole, Sedgeman, Proctor, Stewart, North, Evans, Hedley, Gates, Anderson. Can't remember the last time I saw a Vic title with no Doolan or McGowan in it and another interesting non starter is Mark Jones. I'm not sure what Mark is / isn't up to this season. The field is nearly all U21 (13 out of 16 ?) so its very much a youngsters event this year. I'm very much looking forward to seeing Chris Holder again and he must be a warm favourite to take the title. I'm also looking forward to seeing Richard Sweetman again, he impressed me last year at the Oz U21's, plus I'll be keen to see how Cory has improved after his first season in the UK. I'll also be interested to see the results of the work they did on the track over the winter. As for myself I wasn't going to go because of the distance between Mildura and Broadford but this year the local airline has put on an early Sunday morning flight back from Mildura to Melbourne and guess who will be on it !! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No Troy Batchelor in this? Why is that?

Guest Sir Lunchalot
No Troy Batchelor in this? Why is that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Plus Troy comes from Queensland which is a something like a mere 1300 mile hop, skip, and a jump away from Victoria and it's very unusual for riders to travel that far just for a state title. We are actually lucky to get the Holder boys, Richard Sweetman etc from NSW to help give the field a bit of depth.
sEdgY2
no jason Stewart due to injurys from the aussie longtrack title he will be replaced by jackson milne and Tom Hedley has been replaced by his brother nathan. Tom Still is feeling teh effects of his big crash with Joel Parsons! Stolen from Chopper who stole it from someone else !! At Jason Crump's dinner earlier this year, Gold Coast mayor Ron Clarke stated he would be doing everything possible to assist the Gold Coast Motorcycle Club in finding suitable land to realocate in the future. Lets hope that this happens BEFORE the current track gets closed down by the ever encroaching housing developments. At last Saturdays meeting, both Mitch Shirra and Kym Mauger were in the pits, oh yeah and a certain Mick Doohan was up in the clubhouse watching proceedings to! Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Along with the sites already quoted to you, Speedway Updates also have live results from Mildura (Victoria State Finals) on Saturday ..... I have offered to be up at the crack of dawn (ok maybe not as early as that, but pretty blooming early on a Saturday morning!) to take texts direct from Australia. Link to the site is www.speedwayupdates.co.uk although I haven't as yet set the thread up.
